2. Did McEnroe even start yet?
That would be a heck of thing -- if Dennis Miller's puke-fest draws as many viewers as a show that isn't even on the air yet!

5. They really should get a clue!
Forget Faux and beef up what's successful! I've never watched Miller, have no wish for it. Scarborough is even marketed as a "conservative point of view". Can't quite figure out the Paula Z though.

Why isn't Lou on the list?

6. the thing I don't understand is none of msnbc's shows have come close
to the numbers donahue was getting. but they won't go back to that format for some reason. I always thought that the money was the bottom line, but I guess msnbc has something different to prove.

9. Saw Swiller last nite with Leno as a guest...
I thought Leno seemed a bit 'cool' towards the Menace and the Swiller was sucking up to him embarrassingly transparent. What a loser, I actually felt twinges of feeling sorry for him.

25. Olbermann's show is good
He's funny and not biased that I can see...except maybe towards sanity.

The format is a little screwy, with the counting down and the bombastic music, but he more than makes up for it.

11. Wait a minute, what is a 1.7? Is that a percentage or an index....
...none of those listed look very impressive. How does CBS/NBC/ABC nightly news compare? As for FOXNews, that just shows how dumb American cable audiences are. I have never watched Dennis Miller or McEnroe, ever!

22. That is their rating
A rating point represents 1,084,000 viewers. The numbers might seem low, but that is pretty much the viewership for cable news.

12. Most Ironic thing of all
MSNBC canned Donahue and he was getting a 0.7 rating.

Always a smart move to cancel your most popular show.

15. MSNBC are inept media whores...

Why inept? Because they can't even keep up the pretense of being "fair and balanced". By cancelling Donahue and by keeping far lower rated (though right wing) shows, they PROVE that they have zero journalistic integrity.. Further, they prove that they're not even in it for the money.

They're in it to prop up Chimpco, plain and simple.

27. He's nauseating
It turns out all of those years he was funny on SNL doing weekend update wasn't because of him, but the writers. His stuff is painful to watch now.

31. he owes his career to barry crimmins
his former head writer who had this to say about him:

"No longer the youthful and sassy anchor of SNL’s "Weekend Update" of all those years ago, Miller has become a national father figure. And what a lousy dad he is. Listening to his act is no longer something we look forward to; it is more like getting stuck in the back seat of your pop’s station wagon while he lectures you on "Americanism" through 30 miles of heavy traffic. In front of your friends.

But give Miller credit; he has accomplished something that almost no one before him has ever been able to do. He has actually become so vile that he is not even suitable company in Hollywood. He can now make a game-show host shudder in revulsion. This works well for the self-involved Miller. Why waste time considering the true horror and long-term ramifications of the violence he so blindly supports when we could instead be focusing on the assault of cold shoulders he has sustained on Rodeo Drive? Yeah, Dennis, enough of this massacre-of-innocents stuff, let’s talk about you.

As cocksure as Miller is in his new political alliance, he’d better watch himself — he could be headed toward a 21st-century version of Hitler’s "Night of the Long Knives." So long as church-state integrationist John Ashcroft is the attorney general, a purge of the potty-mouthed Miller is never a distant possibility.

The beauty of Dennis Miller is that everything he’s doing is on tape. What he has been saying will be available for review by people for a long, long time. He has carved a place for himself on the Rushmore of wrong-headedness, and there he will stay for years to come, a glowering, reactionary oaf for the ages. He’s ready for his close-up, Mr. Murdoch"

30. It makes no difference. Corporations (uber alles) will still pay for ads.
Ratings (theoretically) have one and only one purpose: to sell advertising time.

The Busholini Corporatist Cabal will pay for advertising if only to reach their "core." The only time it'd make a difference is if they found another slack-jawed, drooling, brain-dead reichbot as a substitute brownshirt that might get better ratings.
