1. We're supposed to be unhappy because the economy might look up?
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 03:37 PM by ibegurpard
Sorry. If that's the case there's plenty of other things to take issue with the Bush administration about.

4. Duh! What a dipshit!
They're lower because you already signed up over 2 million and they've been falling off because of running out of benefit before finding a job! Idiot!

6. Will Paul Novak be able to do Crossfire from federal prison...
...when he and Karl Rove and Dick Cheney get indicted for the Plame CIA agent disclosure case? Or, is treason a capital offense?

8. This is the first time I watch Novak on Crossfire. He has to buy
better "bonding" agent for his false teeth... Every time he wants to be sarcastic, it looks like they are ready to fall off... And he must have the money to even hire somebody to hold his teeth while he spits out his hate...

10. Novak calls Teresa Ms Kerry... emphasis on the Msssssssss...
HE IS A REALLY UGLY LOOKING ASSHOLE.
And Woodruff had cited a poll taken (maybe by Rove?) among "hair salon professionals" or some such where they liked Bush's hair better.. they did not mention Cheney's though!

11. Hmmmmm....lemmee see.....
If payroll employment rose 112,000 in June and "ONLY" 310,000 (I think that's the number Novak used) filed for unemployment compensation, then that's STILL a jobs deficit!

13. 112,000 was the net amount of jobs created
in June.

So if we say an average of 340,000 jobs were lost each week, that means that there was about 368,000 jobs created in that week.

12. Unless something miraculous happens
Shrub will be the first president since Hoover to preside over a net LOSS of jobs.

And remember that the economy must produce 150,000 jobs/month to STAY EVEN on a per capita basis.

IF there's a net surplus, then start worrying.

But not much.

14. The truth of the matter is that Bush* is the ONLY pResident since Hoover
to have a job deficit after four years in office. That is the Bottom Line.

15. I've said it before: it's not about "wanting" a bad economy.
The bad news isn't that unemployment is going down. The bad news is that we're being told unemployment is down by this Administration.

I don't want the economy to be bad. I don't "root for" things to go bad because it hurts Bush. But I know how the GOP economic philosophy works (or rather, how it doesn't work); I know the veritable certainty that things do go bad and will go worse when that philosophy is implemented as policy. Hence, I can predict with veritable certainty that when the Administration says things are getting good instead of bad, it's either an ephemeral outlier that will soon pass, or it's just plain lying. (And to date, said predictions have always panned out this term).

If I (and I would hope other non-Republicans) ever express distress at economic "good news", it's not because the possibility that things have gotten better distresses me, but because I fear people will buy the illusion and make themselves that much more vulnerable to the sucker punch following. Betting against general prosperity under physiocratic policies is about as close to a sure thing in life as you'll get.
