Heheh... America's Heart and Soul
a cheesy feel-good movie from Disney that the Freepers were hoping would knock out Fahrenheit 9/11 opened last Friday.

It's made $209,962. It's highest per theater average was $561.

For those who want to follow it's "demise" at the box office and F 9/11's super success, go to:

Disney put out a new movie?

4. Here's another review, from Alternet's Max Blumenthal. . .
Link:
http://www.alternet.org/movies/19184/

(snip)
...despite marketing help from Republican operatives, America's Heart and Soul is a colossal flop. Compared to Fahrenheit 9/11, which generated record box office sales nearing $50 million in its first week, America's Heart and Soul grossed a piddling $131,000 on its opening weekend. For a movie that preaches success as the ultimate American virtue, its failure is a rebuke. Indeed, like the neoconservative hawk who eluded military service or the moralizing fundamentalist who sleeps with hookers, America's Heart and Soul is unable live up to its own lofty standards.
(snip)

Only $131,000 on the opening weekend??? Bwahahahahahahaaa!!!!

6. Well, maybe if they'd tried to make a MOVIE
instead of a pandering, preachy cheneying Hallmark card, maybe a few people would have had some interest in seeing it. Instead, they made a feature-length version of one of those irritating feature bits they do during between events at the Olympics. BOR-ing!

7. I feel bad for the guy who made it
Saw him in an interview on one of the cable networks this morning. Basically he spent his own money and quite a few years working on it. Then he's thrilled that Disney wants to distrbute as any aspiring filmaker would be. Then the whole thing gets hi-jacked by a couple of right wing extremist groups and his project is a laughing stock.

He seemed like a good guy and in no way a freeper.

8. They should've done it in IMAX
Edited on Fri Jul-09-04 01:39 PM by UdoKier
and focused on the aerial shots and more dynamic sports/hobbies/careers. There's nothing wrong with a slick and pretty film about what's great about America, but I think such a story is more suited to either the IMAX format or a Disney theme park pavilion. People go to the cinema for drama, comedy, thrills, not a slick ad for America©

11. I have to agree. I can't see
Mellencamp contributing to some conservative commercial. They ruined it for the poor guy by trying to make it THIER message. Just goes to show whatever the right touches, turns to shit.

13. I heard the guy say on AAR that he doesn't like what the bushzis
have done to this country (paraphrasing). It's too bad the right wingers hijacked his work.
