Employment # up-when retired soldiers are conscripted and have to leave...
their jobs, the result is that people have to be hired to fill their places. Thus the rise in job #. Pretty smart move of the Republicans.

Of course this also goes for reserves who have had to leave their jobs for a year or more/less.

Does this theory hold water, or am I way off-base?

1. Good Observation
Like the "1.5 million jobs in the last 10 months" malarkey. In order too keep balance, 150,000 jobs are added per month due to people retiring and teens and college students entering the workforce for the first time.

3. Don't forget all the "temp companies" that are doing so well
Those are "jobs" created too, and yet, they are not permanent jobs, so every time a "job" ends, and NEW one gets created.. but these are McJobs, usually with low pay , no job security, and no benefits..
