When you hear that something 'hurts the American competitive advantage' you know it's something that's gonna screw the little guys.

Corporations want to operate without any liability risk whatsoever. That's why they hate trial lawyers, that's why they want tort reform, it's all greed and profits. Amazing how they try to trick people into thinking this is something that's good for them.

Oh, and if America has such a competitive advantage, why all the outsourcing? Oh, that's right - it's American CORPORATE advantage.

The Repukes Boy King and Darth Cheney have 'lawyered up' for the Plame investigation.
Dubya's Kenny Boy has lawyered up for the Enron investigation.
Limbaugh - their offical mouthpiece - has lawyered up for his drug investigation.
Their propaganda network uses lawyers in order to suppress opposing opinions like Franken.

So, lawyers are peachy when defending RWr's and attacking Libs, but evil when they're Democrats.

Gotcha.

14. Here comes the nonsense
These people crawl out from under their rocks with Frank Luntz and Karl Rove and try to stir up the folks about "evil" trial lawyers and "frivolous suits." Has he got to the McDonald's case yet? Blah, blah, blah.

The truth is out there:

If they worried more about patients instead of their money then we wouldn't need trail lawyers to make sure their heads aren't up their butts while they are treating us !

No, we want to create it, but not hoard it at the top.. and people who live in a democracy should contribute to keeping it alive.

I did not know that in Georgia you need FIVE doctors to testify it is malpractice with an affidavit? YOU WILL NEVER GET IT because doctors won't testify against another.

29. You don't need five doctors, but...
You have to file an affidavit with the complaint at the time of the filing for each medical professional whom you claim negligence against. That's a one to one ratio, though you may have multiple defendants, and often do. It is hard to get the affidavits, but there are some decent physicians who will sign off and who will testify - but it will cost you around $2500.00 for the affidavit and somewhere around $10,000.00 to $30,000.00 for depositions and trial testimony. Also, you are barred in most states from even mentioning the "conspiracy of silence" which is the code of most doctors not to testify against another.

32. In that same vein,
WJ received an e-mail from someone who asked how much money Richard Mellon Scaife chipped into the foundation. Copeland said he didn't know.

I believe he probably didn't -- plausable deniability, and all that (ah, but will that work in Kenny-Boy's defense?). Voluntarily divulging such information takes away from their message: Redistribution of Wealth! Icky! Redistribution of Wealth! They want to take your money! Redistribution of Wealth! They want your first-born, too! Redistribution of Wealth! Communism! Socialism! Dogs and Cats living together! Redistribution of Wealth! Lawyers make more money than Microsoft! Redistribution of Wealth! Terra! Terra! Terra! (Oops. Got another set of talking points mixed in there...) Redistribution of Wealth! Redistribution of Wealth! Dubya/FU good! Kerry/Edwards bad! Redistribution of Wealth! Run! Run! Redistribution of Wealth!

31. Those Who Do...Lawyer...Those Who Don't Favor Tort Reform
I wonder what this moron would do if he got himself in a spot? Represent himself? ROFLMAO! I wouldn't trust him with handling a deed transfer for a pet cemetary plot.

Yep, this is bringing out the next strawman to scare and fear. Damn that Edwards...he's a LAWYER. It's as though all Americans hate lawyers? Sure, the ones who have something to hide do. I do lots of work with lawyers...almost all trial lawyers...and appreciate their work and dedication. These are the people who do the defending...for most of us without large pockets...the only and last resort to justice and self-dignity. Of course this hack can't see it, since that would mean he'd have to get a real job.

My father practiced medicine for 60 years, and for the last 10, I assisted in running his practice. I saw a bunch of malpractice suits come through (including several he was "cattle-called" on)...and in most cases, those suits were warranted. Yes, we were upset at the high costs of malpractice insurance, but my father always said that if the doctor was operating under "sound medical principals", they will not lose a suit...and he never had to pay a dime and was usually dropped (as were most doctors) from the suits.

Yes, there are ambulence chasers and shysters...all professions have them (and most work for Repugnicans...corporate laywers)...but this tactic of trying to tar Edwards shows the desperation this regime is starting to use in scaring whatever shrinking electorate they have left.

Rove must be seeing some real nasty polling data these days...he's been trying to get the worst wingnut hacks on C-SPAN lately.
