Oh the irony-W's military records destroyed, Benedict Arnold's survive
KleverKittie's LBN thread here

The destroyed records cover three months of a period in 1972 and 1973 when Mr. Bush's claims of service in Alabama are in question.

-BUT-

1. Migod, that's incredible.
Your post deserves wider circulation:

The Pentagon can find Benedict Arnold's records, but they can't find Bush's.

Absolutely priceless.

2. the military doesn't usually lose records -
There was a murder investigation/trial a few years ago where they got this guys daily records from Camp Pendleton from 1962 to show that he was not on base that day. This corroborated the other evidence that he did it.

4. I bet ya !
If smirk had served his country ,and at least did what he was suppose to ,the records would be out for all to see. just the fact that they are MIA , is enough proof that he was AWOL , which also proves he is a SOB !

5. The time they were destroyed is also intresting.
Report on CNN said the records were accidently destroyed during an effort to perserve deteriorating microfiche problem sometime in 1996. Hmmm, doesn't that kinda fit with the "thoughts to run for President" timeframe?

I sure remember some here on DU, a long time ago, saying this was going to happen, but of course... it's only another conspiracy theory.

9. I seem to recall....
there was a national guard clerk in texas that claimed to overhear instructions for destruction of the records when Bush was Governor.

then the guy was never heard from again......odd.

at any rate, we'll never see those records. When the person in charge can destroy his own records, they STAY destroyed.

11. thanks for the welcome...
What I am going to find interesting is what spin the rank and file repubs will put on this "accidental" destruction of files.

"the dog ate my military records"! :)

seriously, though, they had to destroy the records of other people, too, to make it look at least a little plausible.

mighty connnnnvvvvveeeeennnnnniiiiieennnnntttt.....maybe the work of sssssaaaattttttaaaaannnnnnnn???? hmmmmmm??? (/church lady)

7. I just saw a documentary on
Benedict Arnold ...very interesting.
And he was so reviled after his defection to the British, his name was never to be spoken. The monument to him at Saratoga doesn't even have his name on it. If anyone's records would have disappeared, it would have been his. (not even taking into account the time factor).
