Just how conservative is ABC News' The Note?
The underlying assumption here being the liberal media protects the "left" and hammers the "right". This is some distance from reality. One simply need compare media treatment of the Thief in Chief with that of Clinton and Gore (two men hardly very far from the center) to spot the more or less willful lying going on here.

<edit>

And last night, after the network newscasts and right-on newspaper deadlines, KE04 did something that could fade away or could become the top political story of the day.

If a Republican presidential candidate, running against an incumbent Democrat, appeared with his newly-minted extremely conservative running mate in front of a packed house of fat cat donors in the capital of the GOP base at a fundraiser at which, say, country and western stars and conservative entertainers attacked the president in personal, mocking, and disrespectful ways, its pretty likely that the press would be in high dudgeon.

The coverage of last night's Radio City event in print has some elements of this, but not enough for the Bush campaign. And the TV coverage has largely ignored it.

Although the Kerry campaign and the DNC did not allow the event to be recorded by news organizations, the words of Chevy Chase, Whoopi Goldberg, and others are out there for all to read.

Although a Kerry spokesman has said that the Democratic ticket doesn't necessarily agree with everything that was said, does anyone believe that the President would be let off the hook that easily if the situation were reversed?

1. The Note tilts to the right: F'd is ok but Whoopi's bawdy "Bush" is not
But the ABCNote - and ABC - have been even more biased in favor of the right in the past.

Indeed, the last 2 weeks seem to reflect a memo reminding all that they need to tilt to the right more (phrased as being balanced to be sure !!! :-) LOL :-) sigh )

2. The NOTE completely kisses ...
... right wing ass.

How about Bush's destroyed military records you a-holes? How about more than just a mention of that? You think if John Kerry's military records were "accidentally" destroyed then the press wouldn't be ALL OVER IT. You think the washington times wouldn't sneer and Drudge wouldn't have a huge banner implying dirty tricks. You thing MSRNC, CNN, and FOX wouldn't turn this into a firestorm.

Idiots at the Note can go Cheney themselves.

3. Caveat Emptor
Overall I think they provide an excellent service by linking political junkies to news throughout the country. However, they do show a ridiculous and unwarranted bias for journalists (ho-ho) like "our Deb Orin" as they like to call her, who are nothing less than unpaid operatives for the GOP. Also, it seems that everyone in the byline gets to write up some of the Notes, and one of them (the one who wrote the Radio City item, no doubt) has a persistently snarky take on all things Dem.
