Wesley Clark on the rise? |
|
I will be voting solidly democratic in next years general election. I'm not sure if I attribute that to my relatively recent political awakening or the fact that the country has been hijacked by a group of radicals the likes of which I've never seen before in my adult life. It may be a combination of the two.
As I follow the doings of the declared Democratic candidates, I see the anticipated announcement of Wesley Clarks' candidacy taking over as the story to cover.
I think if Clark runs, he will immediately give Dean a run for the money. I personally think Kucinich is the most progressive, liberal of the bunch. Clark will have to show me just how progressive he is. I have no doubt he will be able to destroy anyone in a debate except for possibly Kucinich.
Clark has star power. He has the military credentials to throw back in the face of all the chickenhawks, but is he a liberal?

1. I suggest you take a look at the Prez preference poll from last night |
|
Dean's numbers in it are consistent (essentially unchanged) from other polls on DU. Clark only really effected the other candidates, most notably Kerry. If Clark jumps in, he takes Kerry's number-two spot. Dean will be unaffected.

8. DU is not a representative sampling of the Democratic Party |
|
The results of any on-line poll mean nothing. The result of a DU on-line poll mean even less.

so far he's supported gays in the military, rolling back the Bush tax cuts, has spoken out against the war in Iraq, has defended progressive taxation, says we need to take a 100 year view of the environment, and is pro-choice.
You make the call.

5. He also said he's concerned about the way Bush has alienated former |

allies and as a Canadian I was glad to hear that...Our countries were never under such strained relations as they are now, and believe me Bush makes those who don't agree with his little war PAY for it!....I think Clark would work to get the U.S.A. back in the good graces of the rest of the world...

3. A Dean versus Clark contest would be cool. |
|
I would be proud to have those two represent the Democratic Party during the primary. I hope all of the Bush suck-ups crash and burn after the anti-war Clark joins in.

7. They are the top two on my list |

A Clark entry will probably hurt Kerry and Edwards the most.

That is if any position to the left of Bush labels one as such. Let's see ...for the repeal of the tax cuts....for affirmative action...for reproductive choice...then to Rush et al you are a liberal. I prefer to call Gen. Clark a leadership candidate. On foreign policy he has consistently criticized Bush's administration unilateral preemptive strategy as a rejection of what US presidents have stiven for since 1945, to work with our allies to contain threats and use force only as a last resort. So in a funny kinda way I guess you could call Clark a conservative since he wants to retain US policy as working within UN/NATO auspices. What is radical is Bush's rejection of 55 years of strategic planning.

9. Wesley Clark has gone way up in polls on DU |
|
The following is a poll that was put up on DU a few days ago before the current DU poll with Clark on it. Who would you vote for President in the 2004 election if a war was going on? General Clark 9.26 % (10) John Kerry 6.48 % (7) Joe Lieberman 0.00 % (0) Howard Dean 76.85 % (83) George Bush 7.41 % (8) Total Votes: 108 http://antiwarmonger.com/mod.php?mod=poll&op=results&pid=20http://antiwarmonger.com
