Just thought of something big, re: Ken Lay, SCOTUS
Look, I can't necessarily think of how the SCOTUS could be all lined up to support Ken Lay. Even I don't believe that. But it occurred to me this morning why Ken Lay was only trotted out NOW and not even three or four weeks ago...

It all has to do with the recent SCOTUS ruling regarding sentencing. Judges can no longer consider mitigating circumstances when sentencing a convicted criminal. Prior to this, a judge would weigh the time against the crime. In fraud cases, sentences are usually determined by the judge according the amount of the fraud. Ken Lay would have been up the river for a couple of life times.

But not now. By delaying this a week or so, Bush's Buddies were able to assure Kenny Boy that his sentence would probably be lighter, and that they do everything they can to stack a jury for him, as sentencing is now up to the jury and only the jury.

How lucky Kenny Boy is to have such high friends in places!

4. It is STILL up to the jury
They could give him a million years, all suspended, and the judge can't do squat.
