New excuse for Bush's missing military records.
Edited on Fri Jul-09-04 12:50 PM by gatorboy
I've been arguing with another individual over this and the one slip of info he gives me is this link:

http://www.archives.gov/facilities/mo/st_louis/military_personnel_records/fire_1973.html

Saying this is the fire that destroyed Bush's file.

The link posted for the fire story says the periods affected were personnel discharged Army files from November 1, 1912, to January 1, 1960 and Personnel Air Force discharged, September 25, 1947, to January 1, 1964.

Bush served between 1969 and 1972.

So what really happened?

1. There was an article
here last night that said the military records for the period from when Bush went to work on the campaign until he got a dental exam, the three month period always in question because nobody knows where he was, were somehow part of some records lost from microfiche mysteriously. There was no fire involved. I don't know how to search here, the but the article was here last night. Hope this helps.

Doh
The article is right on the breaking news page -- it's called Bush Military Records Have Been Destroyed (gee wonder why), and it was about five articles below your post. Go find it before we lose it again!

6. Thanks! But i found something even better.
The fire damaged facility many are using as an excuse was located in St. Louis, MO.

But the microfilm the AP sued for is located in the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in Austin. Two different buildings. Two different states. So the fire damaged excuse holds no water.

8. The files were chopped up with a razor blade...
...and snorted to an undisclosed location.

10. There's this bridge in Brooklyn that's up for sale
It kills me that the current administration will lie about anything and everything. And they think the general public just might be dumb enough to buy it all. Wait a second, a lot of them are, aren't they?

sigh.

12. This seems to be just the pay records- what about other records such as
why he didn't take the physical and ramifications of that and reports of senior officers about his conduct and his absences plus justifications for letting him drop out of the reserves early. There is a lot missing besides just basic payroll records.
