6. That's probably true, but we've had these polls after every major debate |
|
so it's a bit of a DU tradition.

Nader won on issues, Dean very good at sticking to talking points. Being a lefty in Wyoming is hard, knowing that my 3 electoral votes are straight up going to BFEE, yet again. I believe I'll be voting for Nader for the 3rd straight time.

5. I think Dean won overall when he said the election is about THE PEOPLE. |
|
Dean totally nailed it with that statement.
"I care about corporate interests too Ralph, but the think I care most about is the people of this country." He then went on to talk about the practical ways people have and will be effected with 4 more of Bush.
In other words "IT'S THE PEOPLE STUPID." I can't argue with that Doctor Dean. :hi:
Couldn't believe Nader had the nerve to pander to unions?!

9. It was a joke and the Right Wing does not vote in their own best interests |
|
That was something Dean spoke about in the campaign as well.
Also, I don't think Dean is trying to appeal to right wingers, Ralph said he is?
Heck Dean's family are Republicans, his own mother changed her registration to vote for him in the primary ;)

12. Considering how some of those "far right wingers" behave... |
|
...and what they advocate, I know what he means. After all, the Taliban and alQueada are "far right wingers". So are the Texas Taliban. They aren't "people" in any sense a democracy understands. Cyborgs, groupthink, thugs, blunt stabbing instruments. They can hardly be considered informed citizens concerned with the welfare of "the people".
And it was a joke ala Jon Stewart, "Is Cheney a cyborg? Is Ari a douchebag? Is Bush a wind up cymbal banging shoulder monkey?"

7. Not really sure who won. |
|
They both made good points but avoided the other sides main points.
Nader sidestepped and failed to answer questions about who is funding his ballot drive. He also failed to address the idea/truth that Bush is so extreme that getting him out is a must. He completely ignored the concrete examples of where Kerry differs from Bush on issues important to Nader.
On the other hand Dean never really answered the issue of efforts by both the main parties to keep a monopoly on candidates, which goes beyond where the Democrats are on the political scale. I.e. Howard Dean could totally reform the Dem party and giving other parties more access would still be important. We must not allow the perfect to hurt the good is a nice slogan but has been used far too much and will only be used again next time.

...he demonstrated all the reasons why he was my candidate of choice, and still has my respect, admiration and support. Dean hit all the right points. And of course many of these issues must be addressed, but Nader doesn't seem to "get it". Dean has the right approach for making lasting changes. Nader only seems to be enabling the far right in the interest of inflating his own ego.
