20. "Middle of the month"
That's what he said. Miami next Monday, Phoenix soon. You folks in Phoenix should get it in 1-2 weeks.

Ed is great. I don't care that he's an ex-republican. We should welcome that!

3. He is so cute.
I listen to his radio show every afternoon between 3 and 6 pm. When he pronounces his 'S', it sounds like 'th'.

He reminds me exactly of Sylvester the Cat and Tweetie Bird. Just a nice guy.

4. Ed was disappointing yesterday in his trashing of The New Republic
article (bush/pakistan pact to cough UBL up for Dem convention) AND it's authors.

I don't think he had a clue about any of it. He simply said things like (paraphrasing):

'What is this site??? The New Republic . . . sounds to me like a couple of rightie twenty somethings having a few cool ones and coming up with this stuff... is this site quoted anywhere - ever?' And went on and on in his ignorance.

Ed didn't know TNR is a magazine with an online presence and thought it was some unreputable website.

I give Ed Schultz my ear each day, cheer him on and HOPE he gets a better research team under him because he has no clue about some of the stuff he talks about.

7. Maybe, but I think his Limbaugh style is interesting. And he has
interviews with many Democrats that you don't see interviewed on the cables. I think he's a great alternative to Limbaugh here in NC.

6. Yeah that not knowing what the New Republic is
Edited on Fri Jul-09-04 03:11 PM by rmpalmer
astonished me as well. But I love the rant he went on that Bush was no friends of farmers. And today Big Ed is really on fire over the Iraq Intelligence Report and the Pentagon losing(destroying) AWOL's records.

I'm listening to him this week cause Randi's on vacation, but I'm so loving him I think I may have to tune in more. Maybe I can listen to Big Ed and catch Randi from the archives.

I think his voice sounds a bit like Limbaugh's. I'm glad he's up to 35 stations. I hope he keeps landing more. I can see him really getting some listeners who listen to Rush, Hannity, etc., but maybe haven't drank all the kool-aid and are a bit uneasy with Chimpy.

But still I hate when talk hosts are less informed than their listeners. I expect them to do their homework and learn how to get info off the internet.

10. Randi is also replayed after the late night replay of Franken's show
Personally, I like Ed more because he has interviews. I get enough opinion from DU. I don't have anything against Randi, I just prefer to hear interviews than callers.

11. yes - he gets fired up, informs and has many Dem pols on via cell phone
who are happy to give him time. This in itself is fantastic - for listeners to hear from pols in a casual format, talking about the issue of the day. Kerry talked to Ed not too long ago.

Additionally, he lets his callers speak! We are not used to that! Sometimes he does not seem able to refute what right wing callers say - that should be a prime skill to hone.

Big Ed is a force to be reckoned with - he's putting up good numbers and working his way into many markets.

9. Do you think he was just doing that for "effect?" If he hopes to get the
Limbaugh crowd tuned in (so he isn't preaching to a Dem. Choir) wouldn't it be a great ploy to pretend he doesn't know what New Republic is?

Here in NC if he hopes to get that Limbaugh crowd in he's got to pretent he is a little "clueless" sometime. Listing to NPR whose viewers would defintely know is a different market than Schult's is going for I would think.

I enjoy him and didn't think I would. He has good Dem guests and his cluelessness seems sort of "Average American" to me. Not a bad thing.

12. cluelessness is one thing - correcting misinfo is another - I hope he does
Edited on Fri Jul-09-04 03:53 PM by jean
cover TNR gaff and get the info to the listeners. If it was a ploy he should be able to milk it for a lot of air time, just in trying to correct himself.

Sorry to make another complaint, but today Ed said we've had 800-some deaths of soldiers in Iraq and it's been all over the news since yesterday that we've reached the 1000 milestone - 1000 dead. I want him to be more accurate.

I love hearing the callers from all over the country, not just the midwest, where I reside.

edit - added 1000 deaths remark

16. No Ed was correct though he should say near 900
The 1000 mark was coalition troops, U.S. has 880, UK has 60, and others have 60.

13. He's a little middle-of-the-road for my taste, but
I think that is actually a good thing. He's more likely to hook in Joe Sixpack.
