His solution, an example, textile workers can get an education and enter the medical nursing field. Sure that's the answer for a 50 year old, get a new education. All you people who have worked in industry, go out and reeducate yourself in a new field (what new field?, he doesn't say). Go back to community college. The dolt doesn't realize that our farming industry is sinking and most produce that we buy is produced in foreign countries. Oh hell, we are no longer self-sufficient. Corporate greed and deregulation have done us in. Our power used to lie in the ability to be self-sufficient. We had and still have the best that nature has to offer, water power, vast arable land, access to essential minerals and people willing to be on the production end. This was once put into effect to make the US the most productive industrial power on earth. It is being thrown away in the name of corporate greed and the political power hunger. We are going the way of the USSR, too big for our britches, arrogant, mean, greedy and ignorant.
