About that Intelligence failures report!

I'm sure nobody is surprised here at DU about this, but our lousy worthless media certainly is never going to tell them.

From my senator, Ron Wyden(D OR) and his letter in response to my criticism of the Iraq war intelligence and other travesties.

On February 2nd, President Bush announced that he had decided to support an independent investigation into prewar intelligence on Iraq.

Unfortunately, the President not only hand picked the members of the commission to investigate his own Adminstration, he also explicity prohibited his commission from looking at how his Administration used intelligence in the build-up to the war.

He also has denied the commission the ability to issues subpoenas, a basic tool required by any legitmate investigation. These issues make it plain that a comprehensive, genuinely independent inquiry is still needed.


This letter is dated May 12, 2004.


WE all know its bunk. So do some of our reps in government. When do we get our country back?

2. I'm SOOOOOO outraged by this report...

and by the fact that they aren't even releasing the damning part of it until after the election. WTF is up with that? Thanks for sharing this info, btw.

This, more than anything else in the past 3 years scares the crap out of me, because it finally dawned on me that this is the Bushco strategy--not some 'October Surprise'. They are going to continue to do the type of whitewash/historical revisionism we've seen in the report today from now until the election. Even the Pope will want to 'saint' them by the time November rolls around.

3. We have to blast our spineless Dems for being so cowed.

This is an outrage, The whole intire Democratic wing of the democrtaic party needs to stand in unity and keep calling the Administration "Criminals" until an independent (with subpoena powers) to go after these butchers.
