I'd like to nominate Howard Dean for head of the DNC..... |
|
I use to think this was a dumb idea, but my god we need this man in that position.

I think Howard is opposed to the DLC group. Howard is basically forming his own political party with "Democracy for America". Hopefully, he will force the DLC out of power and return the party to the "old Democrats".

4. If the DNC wants any kind of support from |
|
about 25% of their voters, they'll give Dean the position.
Dean is THE leader of the Democratic base.

9. The Dean/Nadar Debate.. |
|
opened my eyes. I never disliked Dean, i just didn't think he should be the public face of the party. My mind has been changed.

10. Here's the other thing about the Dean/Nader debate... |
|
It seems to me that Dean is the only person I've seen who can take Nader one-on-one in a debate. Have you ever seen Nader on Crossfire, or debating anyone other than Dean, for that matter? He DESTROYS them, every single time. Totally runs over them, leaves them speechless, which is easy to do when you're coming from a principled position (which Nader typically does, although he's not always right).
This debate with Dean was different. Nader KNEW that he was going up against somebody with integrity, that he wasn't going to be running over anybody simply because of their spinelessness. You could see it in his body language: normally, Nader's has his head way up, looking at his opponents straight in the eye. Then he really starts building up some steam and talking really loudly, basically just going on a tirade, to the point where his opponent doesn't know how to respond.
He was nowhere near this with Dean. Nader had his head down much of the time, looking at the podium. He virtually never raised his voice. And, at times, I could swear that the guy looked scared.
I think Dean has Nader's number, and Nader knows it.

12. Winning a debate on crossfire isnt exactly difficult |
|
Nader is usually debating a right wing idiot on cable news. I think there are plenty of liberals who could hold there own or even toast him in a debate.

14. Right....I think my point is that |
|
you have to be arguing from a principled position in the first place, and then you can take him.

|
TV rarely lets us see two people debate without one of them being a dogmatic conservative

and his demeanor nervous. I've never seen him handle himself in such a manner before.

We need a strong leader who stands up for Democratic values. We need someone who is willing to fight the Republicans. Our current leadership is just not doing the job.

13. Plus Dean doesn't have to win an election for that |
|
Liberal or not, he was being portrayed as left of Marx by the Repugs. Just plug him in there, give the party some "ooomf" and let him spit venom on TV right back at Ed Gillespe (spelled name wrong, don't care, man should be put in Gitmo.)

15. I like both Gore and Dean in the outskirts so they can be them |
|
selves and help boost the base that is progressive ...the party is still too far right for me or them.....they are doing a good job working the programs they are initiating on their own...and they are raising awareness and the base of progressive democrats at ALL levels of government.....
the press would try to 'kill' both of them as they have in the past if they get to out in the public eye.....they really are creating a great grass roots across the board.....and that is what we need for the long haul....

DNC chair would be perfect. He'd be totally free of the polls, and my guess is that he'd start pulling them our way.
You really have to be free of those things before you can start changing them.

he is doing a terrific job now....we are the ones who notice not the general public...this is how RW took over schools, city councils, senate and other parts of government and Dean is helping to bring that back to our side...
