Did nurses and paralegals lose overtime pay?

1. Don't think its likely nurses will

lose overtime. At least in this area, there is a shortage of nurses. A hospital nurse I know, works 2 12 hour shifts on the weekend and is paid for 40 hours. Plus many of them are unionized.

Everyone (almost) who makes more than $22000 will lose their rights next month. I can't believe this has gone without more notice than this. This was done as quietly as possible.

4. Many issues here.

Sometimes the union agreement says follow the Labor rules. Then overtime drops out without a new collective bargaining agreement which will inevitably require concessions by labor.

11. Not true. The regs were revised this year (again), and paralegals

were specifically excluded from having their overtime pay affected. I don't know about nurses.

I heard the explanation of the changes on c-span by the head of the Department of Labor (what's her name). The revisions were done because of the outcry and this being an election year.

I believe the intention originally was to do away with all this overtime. But in the revisions made a couple of months ago, a list of job titles excepted from the revisions was included. Paralegal is on the list (I heard her say that).

Of course, there are lots of other jobs that will be affected by the new overtime regulations. And not in a good way. This just burns me up. They give huge tax cuts to billionairs, and then hit people making $30,000 a year with overtime exclusions. It's so unfair. I'm spitting mad.

It is probably in their contracts and they'll want to keep it in their contracts. Since nurses are in demand and places with overtime pay will have an advantage, overtime pay for nurses might remain in many areas.

10. The law will benefit fast food assistant managers

I believe that it states that anyone making under $22,00 must be paid overtime pay. At the fast food restaurant where I worked, many assistant managers were salaried under $20,000 and expected to work near 60 hours per week. They'll probably get raises to $22,000.
