Zell Miller Now Doing Bush Arranged Conference Calls To Bash Kerry
Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 01:48 AM by khephra
"In a conference call arranged by the Bush campaign, Senator Zell Miller, the Georgia Democrat who has broken ranks with his party to support Mr. Bush, said the remarks at the fund-raiser were "the latest example of the sickness afflicting my party," and said that he was not surprised that Mr. Kerry embraced them.

"Last night John Kerry held a fund-raiser in New York that featured performers in a time of war calling the president of the United States `a killer,' `a cheap thug' and `a liar,' " Mr. Miller said, citing media reports of what various entertainers had said. "John Kerry just sat there, grinning like a mule eating briars."

Cleland, Miller Spar Over 'Values'

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Two Georgia Democrats who were close allies when they served together in the Senate staged dueling conference calls Friday to discuss presidential politics and the "values" of the candidates.

Sen. Zell Miller, the lone Democratic senator to endorse President Bush for re-election, expressed outrage at some of the comments made by entertainers at a Thursday night fund-raiser for Democrat John Kerry's campaign.

Minutes after Miller had finished his call, the Kerry team countered with a rebuttal from former Georgia Sen. Max Cleland, who Miller endorsed for re-election two years ago. Cleland said it was laughable Republicans were trying to make a big deal about remarks at a fund-raising concert considering Vice President Dick Cheney recently used the F-word toward Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., on the Senate floor.

"It's the pot calling the kettle black," said Cleland, who lost to Republican Saxby Chambliss in 2002. "It's more hypocrisy than anything else."

11. Trash him at your own risk,,,
Zell is much more popular in Georgia than Cleland ever was.
We have got to find some republicans that will counter Dems. like Miller,Koch,Bell etc...
Repug's for Kerry doesn't have any heavy hitters yet.

15. Zell can take his happy butt back to Young Harris
and continue his slide into senile dementia...and Georgia politics will be the better for it.

Maybe the Blue Ridge will swallow him up...it does that from time to time.

I say this as a Georgia native. If Georgia democrats embrace this man after what he has done, then perhaps Zell isn't the only one in the wrong party.

19. Zell should go Cheney himself!
There really should be some procedure for drumming someone out of the Party. If they don't support the Party nominee or its platform ,how can they justifiably claim membership?
Anybody know if Zell was bought? Seriously, did he have some problems that were taken care of? That is the only reason that would explain his behavior. He doesn't seem irrational, but he does have an agenda, but why?
