Are all Bush voters brain-damaged?
I find it hard to believe that almost half of American voters are brain-damaged, but that might happen again. How can we prevent it? How can you explain it?

3. A friend of mine said, "I'd be so ashamed to put him on my car."
Just today, in fact.

Wednesday, at the Kerry-Edwards Rally in Dayton, many of the volunteers watched on as the 50+, organized, pro-Bush contingent parked themselves on an embankment, complete with banners, signs, and bullhorns.

I give them a lot of credit... I mean, it takes a lot of chutzpah to openly resist in an unpopular environment, but so many of us were itching to just talk to them.

How on earth can they support him so? What do they like best... the lies, the war dead, or the deficit? I wouldn't even know where to begin.

5. They Share His Values.
Values, Values, Values.

Can't you see the man has values?

It takes some pretty hefty values to run the deficit into the roof while slathering billions of dollars worth of gov't no-bid gravy out to your pals. Takes values a-plenty to wave the bible in one hand and the flag in the other while you shill for saudi oil princes and kill for greed. And what spells heartwarming, middle-american values more than telling maw and paw kettle you stick up fer em (mostly 'cuz you're taking on the ferminists, gays, and sekoolar humansts in san frinsisco and noo york citay) while you ship their jobs off to India and screw their kids out of what few health benefits they may still have?

They're counting that the fear of terror, the hate of gays, the loathing of abortion and outrage over pictures of nekkid ladies and anger that people are having sex that isn't procreative and isn't even joyless and humorless will outweigh the fact that the economy has tanked and kids are coming home in boxes and all we've gotten out of this white house is a basket full of cheap, dangerous lies.

"Values."

14. Anyone that is Middle Class or below...
who is pro shrub is just plain stupid. No other explanation fits.

BushCo is devastating the Middle Class. Under BushCo Health Care Costs are up and will keep going up, jobs are being lost and the ones available are lower paying and many without any benefits. State sales taxes are going up. Social Services are shrinking. Fire and Police services are being depleted. The standard of living is going down. The evironment is being degraded which also causes health problems. Schools are being starved of funds.

BushCo is only good for the wealthy. These are some of the reasons that the Middle Class and below are just plain stupid for supporting a Right Wing Admin. that has disdain for them and Amerika.

17. The same could be said about Germans in the 1930's.
There were a majority of people who bought into the notion that Hitler was right and the same thing is happening now in America. The only difference is half of the population does not buy into the lies.

23. You know, I think there are two main reasons
people vote for Bush and Republicans in general. One is financial. There's the tax cuts and for some reason some people are sold on the idea that Republicans are better for the economy because they are pro-big business. The other reason has to do with morality. Fundies vote Republican because they are the pro-life party and because they see them as the pro-Christianity party. This second group hasn't looked at their bible too closely, though, for if they did they would see that Bush is just paying lip service to Christian issues and in reality has very little to do with putting forth true Christian ideas.

24. It's More Than That...
bush validates what they already WANT to believe. They want to believe GLBT folk are evil people who will subvert and recruit their children, and lead to the moral decay of this country, and the collapse of civilization. It's easier than THINKING.

Besides, especially as people get older, they get set in their ways, and comfortable with their ideals, beliefs and ideologies, and the idea of re-examining those is daunting to them...they'd rather cling to what is comfortable to them, and what validates their narrow, racist, bigoted, prejudiced, hate-filled ideals.

And the 'Pukes know it, too.

26. Bush appeals to the unsophisticated voter.
The unsophisticated voter likes short simple statements, simple policy, and simple beliefs. They love things like "Bring 'em on.", "Iraq and Al-Qaeda", "God Bless America" because they don't like to think out policy matters at all. These people allow Bush to get away with his bullshit.

30. I had to turn off Cspan--it was full of brain damaged callers
one caller from Georgia insisted to Joe Trippi that McCain was not smeared by Bush in the primary race and that McClellan was not called unpatriotic and one of the reasons she gave was because it was not reported in the papers, and she finished up by tacitly calling Trippi a liar saying that if you repeat a lie over and over people will believe it the truth :eyes: To Trippi's credit, he did not react--how he managed to keep a distance i don't know. Another twangy voice, a man from Mississippi, said that Kerry is running a hate campaign

33. Just a thought, but it makes sense to me...
I can't remember if it was on The Daily Show or on Real Time w/ Bill Maher, but a guest (may have been Janeane Garafalo?) suggested that a lot of the Bush supporters may simply be embarrassed that they fell for him this long, therefore making them ashamed to admit that they were wrong. If so, I would imagine this could apply to a lot of the older voters who may be lifelong republicans. They are simply too ashamed to admit that they were duped. It happens a lot when the elderly are scammed, even by telemarketers or other deceptive sales people. In a lot of instances they never tell anyone about it, even close family members. They just live with the guilt.
