The Thin-Skins Of Republicans

This NY fundraiser gets headlines for comments made by performers about Bush. I even saw on CNN a posting of the cost to attend to fundraiser - when does the cost of every BC04 fundraiser get posted.

It seems to me that Bush et al are just very thin skinned. Bush loves loves loves to banter with reporters, to give them nicknames (which sometimes are demeaning), to give wisecrack answers to questions. Republicans have slammed Clinton and Gore for years, they were slamming Jimmy Carter during Reagan's funeral even. They are physically incapable of saying anything nice about a democrat - except for Zell Miller.

This adminstration is particularly unable to accept any criticism - even from within - they fire or force out people who speak their mind - never mind the ones that criticize. (Consider Clarke, the guy in charge of the faith based initiatives office, first treasury secretary and others). They punish Helen Thomas, the dean of the WH press corp, they threaten reporters by saying "noted in the building"

They are so intolerant of criticsm that they push protestor into "zones" far away from the event - and carefully set up events in venues where everyone is coerced to clap (military bases).

This "outrage" over the Radio City event is an attempt to made Kerry go on the defensive - to make him and Edwards question how hard they should hit the administration. I hope Kerry does not back down.

4. The world is not that simplistic.

We need to keep hammering away on everything and hard.
Way too many people have defend cheney and his comment.
The ignorance surrounding that incident is scary. Patrick Leahy was trying to play by long established and necessary rules. cheney was out of line and should have been called on it, especially when he later went on faux and defended his actions.

But this is a very minor episode in a very long list of major crimes against the American people, Afghanistan and Iraq.

I don't know about you--but I'm still waiting for Cheney to make a formal apology to the American people for his remarks on the Senate floor. But that's never going to happen because as we all know--all too well-that this is not an administration that is ever capable of admitting they were wrong about something.

5. Republicans, so far, seem to have a one-up psychology over democrats.

They think of themselves as better than ... democrats. They constantly push inflammatory rhetoric in an attempt to keep the country divided and they have done that. They rule by pushing the emotionality buttons of people, knowing that if they allow people a state of calm, thoughtful evaluation, they would be voted out of office faster than SPEEDY GONZALEZ could say her name. Kerry must know that in an anxious environment a calm presence can make all the difference--when people are calm they start to think rather than react. Somehow, and although I have only seen the trailers shown on television and read people's comments on FAHRENHEIT 9/11, MICHAEL MOORE'S film also seems to afford people a state of calm. It seems to erode people's unquestioned acceptance of Bush's propaganda while affording them a stage on which to begin to open the entire 9/11 to many questions. Kerry seems to open people up to questioning whether Bush is/has been a good p/resident for our beloved USA. The possibility of stabilizing people's thinking through a calm environment from which they can think through the issues as we head towards the November elections is like holding up a booger (ghostly presence) right in front of our scarediest, vest wearing, bubble protected p/resident). Uhhhhhh! Booger gonna get him!:scared: :evilgrin:

Tasteless jokes at a fundraiser or the constant harangue of Rush Limpbag calling Democrats "Reds", Ollie North insisting bin Laden wants Kerry to win, Hannity juxtaposing Terrorists and Liberals in the title of his book...
