Repug Ad, Re: Kerry Missing Senate Votes |
|
I'm sure everyone has seen this ad where they complain that Kerry has missed Senate Votes while campaigning. Just how the hell is he supposed to run for president? Do they think everyone is that stupid? I guess the only people who should run are retirees or the unemployed. (and when he returned to Washington to vote on a veterans bill, the dirty crooks purposely delayed the voting so he could not)

Republican replacement. I'm not sure if Mass. lawmakers have changed the law yet - I think Romney (the religious homo-phobe governor of Mass) is sitting on the bill now - weighing his options.

2. They want to suck Kerry into going "negative"... |

Kerry should answer the attacks personally but his ads should remain positive, imo. At least, at this time.

3. Kerry has no one to blame for this but himself |
|
He could have, and should have, resigned his Senate seat upon clinching the nomination. The only downsides were his loss of the seat for at least a couple of years, and an incumbent Republican. Now we have Kerry unable to make a case about Bush being absent, a somewhat (if we don't play games with the process of selecting a replacement) or substantially (if we do play games with selecting a replacement) more difficult time holding the seat. Running for President is a full time job. Being a Senator is also a full time job. Kerry should have chosen which full time job he wanted. Both Massachusetts and the nation deserved that.
We could well lose this seat for a substantial amount of time thanks to this. Given the mess he has to clean up he will be way less popular in 2006 than he is now or will be in 2005. We would have been much better off running with Kerry on the ticket in 2004 against an appointed Senator, than we will be with Kerry in the White House in 2006 running against an appointed Republican or a special election.
