It's the POTHOLES Stupid!
My three hundred dollar tax RE-BAIT check back in 2001, will not even come close to covering the front end and tire damage to my vehicle, caused by the lack of federal highway funds here! Here in West Virginia, the pothole capitol of the world, our roads look like the roads around Baghdad with the bomb craters that we see on TV! At least the NeoKons fix the roads in Iraq!

Are we better off now than the Iraqis were four years ago?

Are your roads and bridges falling apart, like they are here?

Will we even be able to drive to the polls in November?

Can the new "Sovereign Nation" of Iraq/Kellogg/Brown and Root, send foreign aid to West "By Gawd" Virginia, soon?

1. Our industry...
pays plenty in highway funds. I'm a trucker and each of our trucks will pay up to 12,000 / year in federal highway taxes as well as fuel taxes.

The problem is that the funds aren't exclusively allocated to maintaining infrastructure. They are used for any number of pork barrell projects.

There is a pilot program that recently passed the house that allows states to put voluntary toll booths on interstates where new lanes are being added. This will be on the new lanes only and use of these "express services" will be voluntary.

My $300 loan went to paying lawyers for their screwing up my child support case. I had to spend about 1,200 to an attorney to prove to the state of Illinois that I don't owe them the $8000 in child support that they say I do...in fact, I have never owed them anything.

It's outsourcing at it's finest, as the state of illinois doesn't handle their own collection and disbursement of funds for this anymore.

2. I feel your pain Coon Dog!
Things like more tax cuts for the wealthy 2% and elective wars are eating this country alive! If Bush really wants to create jobs in America, why don't he fix the gutted roads! I'm talking good paying jobs and for something useful, to we the people, like safe highways!

I hope you aren't buying your own fuel, BTW!
