Who is looking forward to Edwards debating Cheney?

I am. The guy has the intelligence and the savy to run rings around Dick Cheney. I hope he has the guts to take Dicky Boy to task over everything that has gone on. I also know that it won't be the "lovefest" that the Lieberman-Cheney debate was. I am sure you remember that one. I thought I saw some brown on Joe's nose. Edwards should be a breath of fresh air and will make Cheney look like some crumudgeony old hack.

Case in point: Cheney Doc Is Drug Addict. Jane Mayer broke the story ("The Vice President's Doctor") in the "Talk of the Town" section of the July 12/19 New Yorker . The gist was that Dr. Gary Malakoff, Cheney's personal physician, had a history of obtaining prescription drugs, often under false pretenses, to sustain his addiction to narcotics. After initially receiving what in hindsight was overly indulgent treatment by his colleagues at George Washington University Medical Center, Malakoff was stripped of an important position?chief of internal medicine?and placed on leave.

So this junkie (hello, Rush...) is the guy who pronounced Cheney "fit and healthy.." to serve as VP. Anybody see anything further about this in the news?

10. The only way it could fail

is if Cheney can make Edwards look like an irresponsible kid who doesn't have the experience well, than it might be tough on him. But I don't think that's very likely; Edwards has surely had to deal with that problem many many times before.

JE's experience as a trial lawyer will make it quite something to behold. Here is a man who spent 20 years searching for and presenting facts to juries and did it quite well. I don't think the debates are going to be any different. All Cheney has is lies and deception to support his side.

...the pants off people, and Edwards will try to convince everyone that the only thing we should fear is fear itself, and he will try to appeal to voters best instincts, rather than worst intincts.

This debate will be the biggest, most blunt battle over the essence of liberalism and the essence of fascism that politics has seen in in decades.
