Susan Estrich just KICKED TONY SNOW'S ASS ON FOX
Whoo-hoo,

the tide is turning. Tony and another republican whore tried to make a big deal out of the fundraiser and Susan kicked their ASSES. She said "We are in a week where we have learned 1000 men and women have died for false reasons and your talking about Whoopi Goldberg?"

The sputtering was something to behold. I have never been impressed with her - especially since she works for Fox - but today she kicked ass.

1. Snow threatened to cut off her mike. They were shocked when
he asked her about the fundraiser and "values"' and she turned on them about what the real issue of week should be.

2. Was he kidding?
Still "values" is about all they have left to talk about. Talk about them you understand, not actually have any. These guys are really having to earn their money now.

7. No, he wasn't kidding. The comment about 1,000 soldiers dying for
a mistake sent Snow and the Repub consultant (Snow is one also, of course) into a tizzy.

Then they were worried about the "tone" of the comment.

It was nice to see her not back down. She usually seems like she is apologizing to the repubs for the things the Dems do.

19. Sorry, I'm not. Democrat's are just "so angry" right now and the tone
is not good per Snow.

Yah, well, no shit Dem's are pissed.

20. Did they actually SAY or move to cut off her mike?
I saw SE on the other night for a different topic. She was, like you say, more gutsy than I've seen her before. The temperature must be rising in DC enough to encourage long forgotten bravado in these wimpy "consultants". woot

24. He warned her twice but she got to take the conversation from the
BS fundraiser crap to the Iraq War. She was quiet and let the other guy talk and then went back to her point.

5. Thought she was great when running Dukakis' campaign
Then I thought she went over to the dark side, all chummy with Hannity and O'Lielly. Was a big critic of Clinton during the Lewinsky mess. Maybe she was setting them up. Would be nice to see her use her talents to be a strong liberal/Dem voice on Faux.

4. Judy Woodruff and Chris Matthews too
Last night she was mighty uppity discussing the CIA report, she said it 'smelled' like the CIA was being pressured to produce the right intel. Does anyone have links to the transcripts to their show, because I could barely believe my ears.

8. Chris was great last night
Lets hope he hammers away on this all the way up to the election. I couldn't believe how angry he was for about the first half hour of the show.

13. i made SURE to email him to say thank you. he can tear it up when he
keeps getting the runaround and in response to a woman from the nypost who said it was still the right thing to go to war , he pointed out "the ball keeps moving" about what the reasons are we actually got into this despicable war (my words on this last part)

she tried to say it was humanitarian (the old standby) and chris pointed out there are a whole lot of countries then that we would be invading and knocking out if thats the criteria

he was not too happy... good on ya chris!

14. EXCEPT when he let that HO HO HO Deborah Orin talk all over
vanden Heuvel

they commiserated on those horrible dems and their nasty fundraiser

that was a real low point

CM also let Orin get away with lying TWICE about something obvious that I can't remember, but it REALLY pissed me off. he didn't let KVH respond, though they splitscreened her chomping at the bit to do so

it was a REALLY egregious lie, too. when I remember, I'll post it

Orin is one of those people, like Cheney, who very obviously display their hideous inner soul on their hate-ravaged faces

18. Judy Woodruff was interesting to watch last night during a report about
upcoming protests (HUGE ONES) in New York City in late August for you-know-who's convention. Not a single smirk, not a single derisive remark, raise of eyebrow, or inflection in the voice. Not a one.

She intro'ed and outro'ed the piece (which was quite long and extensive, and pretty comprehensive, actually) very seriously and respectfully.

Which told me several things:

1) They are actually running reports like these. A couple of years or so ago, they didn't even acknowledge anti-bush protests, especially during the run-up to war. And they CERTAINLY didn't do any reporting about how huge the crowds were going to be - more than a month in advance of the expected protest gatherings.
2) Her demeanor was completely neutral. The nature of the report was not derisive or dismissive, even while they showed people who looked, and were described as "60's hippie-types" and of course, the crazies with the "Billionaires for bush." In that same report, they also paid extensive attention to how big earlier protests had also been (great aerial shot of a huge crowd covering the entire street, for blocks and blocks and blocks), and all the NON-crazies and, for heaven's sakes, the respectable types, who were also part of this movement.
3) They acknowledged it was a huge movement, and it wasn't going to go away, but on the other hand would probably only get bigger and stronger.
4) They also acknowledged that it was expected to be peaceful, like so many of the earlier protest gatherings had been, indicating that these were people of conviction, not mere troublemakers. So did the police officials who were interviewed. They were VERY conscious, or at least that's what they claimed, of the concerns about police being heavy-handed. And whether that's just lip-service or something more sincere, it's telling. It means in the very least that they are VERY well aware of our distrust. They know the image they have. And apparently there's been enough of a stink made about the compromising of the First Amendment that they are aware of THAT, also.

Judy came back on after the report, and she was as serious and straight-up as could be. The villification and mocking and belittling is gone. She took the report seriously. I think that's because, in general, those protestors, and the rest of us on the anti-bush front, are also being taken seriously. Especially since our group is growing bigger and louder and mightier every day. You can laugh at a few splashes of water in a wading pool. You dare not do that in the face of an oncoming tidal wave.

6. Sorry.
When Susan stops appearing on Sean Hannity's radio show and sucking up to Republicans, I'll give her some credit. As far as I'm concerned, she still belongs to the Zell Miller wing of the Democratic Party.

10. Katrina van Heuvel repeated the same on "Hardball" last night.
This seems to be the chosen DNC talking point response to "The Fundraiser," and it's a good one.

But I wouldn't give Susan Estrich too much credit... she's got a looooong way to go toward winning back her credibility.

11. Yeah Susan sold her soul to FNC and I'll never have any respect
for her again. There's nothing she could do to redeem herself at this point with me. And if she keeps on disagreeing with her masters at Fox--they'll show her the door. I just hope no other network is dumb enough to hire her as a political consultant.

16. I just posted on that above....do you remember the big lie
D. Orin told, then repeated, that neither KVH or CM refuted?

I think KVH wanted to at one point, but CM cut her off, which he kept doing, while let that skankburger prattle on and on and on, like a slobbering roboho.

I can't figure out why he went so easy on Orin, after giving it to others, like the pretty unbiased ABC reporter radatz earlier, trying to make her express an opinion

don't you love it when people like Radatz won't say what they think, in an effort to be professional, then you get the complete monstroids like Orin, who will NEVER admit anything, NEVER give an inch?

even William Kristol and John Fund occasionally admit to reality

22. SNOWjob Said, "We're not going to play this game..."
"Susan....Susan....Susan..." (she kept talking). Then he said that if she didn't stop he was going to cut her mike. When he let her talk again she had a GREAT response, saying that Dems are tired of being sucker punched (paraphrasing here) over MINOR issues like this entertainment thing while wingnuts get passes with BIG faults.

That said, I agree with the posters who say this ONE TIME for ESTRICH does NOT make for redemption. Lanny DAVIS is now a Faux paid contributer. While it makes sense to have SOMEBODY speaking for us everywhere, including Faux, what we've seen so far is these supposed Dems toadying up for being bashed and battered by the Faux hosts.

And I will never let any nice words about Tweety pass: He is our enemy; he voted for Shrub.

As for ESTRICH, maybe she's looking for a job in the KERRY Administration.

23. Could also be possible they know that movie
Outfoxed is coming out and they want people to "know" they are not the biased ones. Who knows? Or maybe they see the writing on the wall and want to be on the winning side. There are only a few of them I trust anymore.

28. Thanks, went to the Faux site
and found that it's only shown once, not repeated.

Tony makes me ill anyway, not only his pom-pom outlook on everything but I so want him to clear his throat, his voice is annoying as hell.
