Florida has decided to scrap its felon list. Looks like this one time some media scrutiny worked.

If I were the press I'd tell Ashcroft to take a flying leap and to take his fucking Department of Justice access with him. I'd even tell him where he could shove his DoJ access. Who honestly gives a shit about DoJ access?

Are they honestly saying that they're willing to turn a blind eye to what could be one of the biggest stories of the decade just so that the Department of Justice and John "Get the Eagle Sore" Ashcroft can continue to feed them talking points?

7. The issue was starting to draw too much attention

better to give it up and let everyone forget about it. That way in Nov. when everything falls apart again because of the machines, it won't matter anyway.


We must demand that all elections provide paper ballots that can be marked with a pen. That way even if the machines break down, you can still vote.

They dropped it because NOT ENOUGH Hispanics were on it! -

"Nevertheless, Supervisors of Elections are required to uphold their constitutional obligation" and will find other ways to ensure felons are removed from the rolls, Hood said in a statement.


The decision was made after it was reported that the list contained few people identified as Hispanic; of the nearly 48,000 people on the list created by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, only 61 were classified as Hispanics.

9. Once released publicly, it was useless

The media was doing the investigation, looking deeply for every story they can. How many do you think they would have found? Lots of people were suprised and mad to find their name on that list.

They had the local sup. of elections in a hard place. THIS was the "help" they were getting. And would have been held liable if they used it.

Notice that this "error" wasn't found until after the media got ahold of the list.... hmmmmmmm

Every little story they were looking for. And people on that list was being contacted. LOTS of questions were being asked. As an attempt to keep people from voting, the list became useless. Smarter to get rid of it on their own and acting like they were doing the "nice" thing.
