How is it possible for the CIA to tell Clinton
"We just don't have that much confidence in our intelligence", but the same CIA told Bush "It's a Slam Dunk?

I'm listening to an interview of Clinton by Christian Amanpour on CNN right now. She asked him why he didn't send the Special Forces into Afghan. to get Bin Laden. The above quote was his answer.

How is that possible?

1. Was Clinton talking about the Cole incident?
He's asked a lot why he didn't go after OBL after the Cole incident, when we now know OBL did it. Clinton says that he and everyone thought OBL did it, but it wasn't proven that OBL did it until months after Bush took office. There were some indications in Clinton's time that OBL had done it, but not "proof" or knowledge for sure.

2. Not this question.
This particular question was "Why didn't you send the Special Forces into Afghanastan to get Osama when everyone thought that's where he was." Clinton said, "my Generals were fighting against it. They were willing to take the risk, but only if they believed there was a reasonable chance to accomplish the assignment. The CIA told me they just didn't have that much confidence in their intelligence."

This was before the Cole incidenet.

4. Wasn't the words he used....
the people the cia had on the ground? He said they did not want to go in if there was no guarentee they could get him. The number of people that would have to die, just wasn't worth it.

3. The new Freeper spin is that Tenet wanted to destroy Bush
Watch for this one to rear it's ugly head. They shoulda gotten rid of Tenet right at the out-set. That's what you'll be hearing.
