I usually get a paper to read while I'm having lunch at work, and today's was so pleasant to read.
Of course, the big story was the publication of the Senate Intelligence Committee's Iraq War report--the one with the senator saying the Iraq War Resolution wouldn't have received such overwhelming support if the Senate would have had accurate intel.
There was also a local-interest story:
http://www.fayettevillenc.com/story.php?Template=news&Story=6446821Keith Idema, who served one three-year hitch with Special Forces, is in jail in Afghanistan. It seems he's been charged with abusing Afghani prisoners who were in his privately-run prison by hanging them by the feet.
This isn't the first time Idema's been in the slammer--in 1995, he got four years on sixty counts of fraud.
Better: at his trial on these sixty counts of fraud, three Army vets testified in his behalf. One vet said, "to Keith, honor means everything." That is, unless money is involved.
Anyway, Keith's in jail tonight.
