19. No! we need him to run the DNC.
Just look at his debate with Nader. We need Dean at the DNC NOW!

22. Perhaps, but I think we need the good Dr. to save our Health Care system
He already saved our party. Without his efforts to turn around the direction of our debate we wouldn't be where we are now.

29. Friend. we have a lot more work to do - yes Dean introduced some spine
but much more is needed and he is the one for the job at the DNC.

3. I'm getting there
I'm still not an Edwards fan, but it's hard to dislike him when the Right is pushing the stupid "Kerry and Edwards are gay" BS talking point.

9. I knew Edwards would send them into a tizzy.
And I do so enjoy watching them go "hither and dither"

That they are doing it to themselves makes it all the better.

40. Just chew on this quote in your free time
"The only thing George Bush respects is wealth."

That's a line from his earliest stump speech: He called him a phoney, just walking around on that ranch of his with that big 'ol belt buckle.

Some people who are very polished, well-presented and self-controlled still have decency and straightforward honest inside of them.

He's also one tough guy, without needing to have people think of him as such.

Of the four on the tickets, he easily has the broadest appeal.

As I've said many times in the "stop calling us Southerners whatever" threads: it takes guts to be a populist or progressive or...(shudder) a liberal in the South; it shows more character than it does to be one around here.

He's for real.

Methodist too...

5. Yep
I'm definitely comfortable with the pick, in fact I'm more comfortable now than I was four days ago. The only thing that irks me is the new Kerry-Edwards campaign logo. It looks sort of ... amateur. Maybe it's just me.

The only better thing would be to have the ticket reversed.
But we're way beyond that. Go Kerry/Edwards.

16. The Economist ran an article months ago, claims Rove fears Edwards
IMHO, Edwards has charisma, the "common touch," and though his mannerisms are a bit too practiced at times, it's nothing like the affectations of the Great Pretender.

Also, some of Edwards' positions bother me, he's a bit of a hawk, but that will at least ease the mind of many swing voters.

Kerry and Edwards together make bush and cheney look like schoolyard amateurs. The clinch will happen when Kerry announces he wants Elliott Spitzer as Attorney General (please, God, please).

In short

But no one will ever replace the inimitable Howard Dean, a true American original.

35. When the Left calls him 'conservative', and the Right calls him 'liberal'
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 10:00 AM by Trajan
You KNOW that he is a sure bet to be a 'middle of the road' moderate ...

I am QUITE glad of Edwards as VP : He cares about what I care about: issues affecting working families and the middle and lower classes ..... he has a populist touch that is sorely lacking in today's american polity ...

I am DOWN with Kerry/Edwards ...

Always wanted him on the ticket. But so far he has exceeded my wildest expectations.

Kerry picking Edwards put the missing part into the engine. My fellow Americans,

Senator Edwards helps balance the the ticket in a number of ways. I am begining to think that Bush will dump cheney to make up for the effect of having Senator Edwards on the ticket.

36. That's such a damned if you do damned if you don't move.
They could lose if they don't it. But could you imagine the way that would be perceived by the public if they did do it? It would make Bush look scared. It would make it look like he made the wrong choice to begin with and it would make it look like he's motivated be polls and not by what's right.

Basically, Bush needs Dick to have heart problems. He can't just dump him.

37. Yes!
I am more confident than ever that we're going to win! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I heard West Virginia's polls already went back to even, from a 6 point lead for Bush.

The Philly Inquirer editorial about the pick was positive, and even usual Dem basher Dick Polman (also from the Philly Inquirer) had an article that was good for him.
