Kerry on 9/11
I just noticed something watching the Larry King interview a second time--you know Bush's story about saying "that is one bad pilot" when the first plane hit? Well Kerry said something to the extent of "I'm a pilot, and when I looked at the sky I could see that it had great visibility, so there was no way that the first plane could have been an accident, as some people were speculating at the time."

It was a really subtle slap; I didn't even notice it the first time. But it was definatly there.

3. Bush* also said "it must have been a terrible accident"

as I recall. Kerry specifically said that he knew, as a pilot, that it wasn't an accident. He mentioned suicide as a possibility. I don't know if he thought it might be that a suicidal airline pilot had deliberately done this or, if he knew the plane had been hijacked and thought (hoped, I'd guess) that it was just one person who hijacked a plane to end his life.

Kerry also said that when the second plane hit, he knew America was being attacked. When he mentioned that senators were told to evacuate the building, Teresa Heinz Kerry said "You said you walked out with John McCain," and he confirmed that. I wonder what John McCain's thoughts were about the crash? He was a Navy pilot shot down in Viet Nam, remember.

I don't remember who it was now, but a DUer maintained in more than one thread here that Bush* never flew solo. His reason for thinking this was that there are no photos of George's solo flight, plus the fact that pilots who love to fly (as Bush* claims he did) just don't quit flying if they have the health and wealth to continue.
