Jack Germond on MTP....excellent! |
|
Hes got a new book out, Fat Man Fed Up...
....I always liked Germonds' "cut the crap" approach, from what I recall when he was on the McLaughlin Group. Looks like hes still on the case...an old shoeleather reporter, too many cigars, steaks, and martinis, but still fed up with the BS thats going on in politics.
Bill Buckley was on too. God has he gotten old! I recall him from his Firing Line show back in the late 70s.

1. Jack Germond was terrific! Unfortunately Bill |
|
Buckley has not changed one iota. He is still a snob and a Republican snob at that.

Jackamundo! Patty-Patty-Buke-Buke! Stellar-nor Eleanor!
He was great! It's a shame MSNBC dropped the M. Group--our PBS affiliates don't carry it anymore.

The SNL parody was their best skit.

10. Germond hasnt been on the show for some time now. |

And its a pity as he really added to it.
BTW, my local PBS affiliate has also dropped it, unfortunatly.

Jack's long been gone from McLaughlin, and I wish I could see him more reglarly.
The show is more tempered these days as McLaughlin obviously is no Bushbot and has been long a critic of the invasion...but still keeps shills like Tony Blankley (talk about an accent), Buchanan, Mort Zimmerman and Lawrence Kudlow on CNBC vs. Eleanor (please don't cry) Clift.
On Edit: Remembered Kudlow's name...ewww...now I need a shower.

5. Jack said if the war is so great, Bush should send his daughters. |
|
I loved that, and of course Buckley piped up to say "That's not fair!" to wich Jack Germond replied, "Everything's fair in this war. Everything."

Two sons in college right now: both English majors.
They are absolutely needed AT HOME. You never know when you'll need a sentence diagrammed or a sonnet scanned.

(English was my major, too.)
"Mr. President, I'd like to introduce you Bill Brown. He's an English major."
"Howdy, Major Brown."

17. I did not think Germond was that good... |
|
...all he basically said was that media/politicians are not dealing with the issues that Americans think are important. Big Deal! THen he threw out the thing about the Bush daughters. Sounds like he was just trying to sell his book....
I could have done 10 times better if I had had the chance to get on MTP, and so could dozens of DUers.
