It's not his fault...
I'm inspired by another post on DU to write a letter to the editor asking people to lay off Bush. My point will be that we just set our expectations too high and that none of the Bush failures are his fault.

Help me list some of the failures that are "not his fault."

I'll start: It's not his fault that America's standing in the world has sunk to a new low.

1. It's not his fault that Saddam didn't have weapons of mass destruction.

It was Saddam's fault for not stockpiling weapons when we *thought* he was!

Edited to add: You could always blame Clinton for keeping Saddam contained!

Don't try blaming the supreme court either, haven't you heard? God works in mysterious ways and ours is not to judge.

9. George W. Bush....
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 10:11 AM by PA Democrat
the perpetual victim.

It's not HIS fault that those microfiche records of his Guard service were mysteriously damaged.

It's not HIS fault that the August 6 Presidential Daily Briefing was not more specific. It should have read: "Bin Laden will attack the US with 4 hijacked planes which will be flown into the WTC, Pentagon and Capitol. Cancel the rest of your vacation, George."

:nopity:

17. it's not his fault (really, well sort of)
that he was distracted by his 'git saddam' obsession and missed the red flags/alarm bells going off about a terrorist attack while on vacation in August 2001

that he said he would "Git Bin-Laden" and didn't

that he said "Mission Accomplished" and it wasn't

that he said "bring'em on" and they did

that publically he stood behind Paul O'Neill - then pushed him off the cliff

that he stood behind Richard Clarke, thanked him for his hard work - then pushed him off the cliff

that he stood strongly behind Tenent - then pushed him off the cliff

18. It's not his fault that the records of his national guard service
have disappeared.

Nor is it his fault that he had to finish reading The Pet Goat and thus miss all the action on 9/11. Remember, 30 kids might have been upset if he "excused himself" to act as Commander in Chief and defend the US of A. So it's just too bad that all those people died on 9/11, and that with over an hour warning that something was DRASTICALLY WRONG and AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK, and that he couldn't even muster a pea shooter to defend the Pentagon in the Nation's Capital.

So get over it.
