bumper sticker. I passed him and got in front just to make sure he saw my MoveOn.org Drop Bush in '04 bumper sticker.

1. SUVs and b/c bumper stickers seem to go together.
I've noticed how often big, gas guzzling vehicles have b/c stickers. ignorance is the first word that comes to mind.

5. Four SUVs within nine homes...
... of my own on our block. One of which is mine. Middle of Miami, no less; last election, Bush was all over the place. All four of those "gas guzzling" SUVs have Kerry bumper stickers. My own "gas guzzling" SUV has a DU on the front and a Kerry on the back. Not one Bush sticker within three blocks.

Individual taste and choice is, for the time being, still an option in this country. Moreover, employing and believing that automotive selection is a measure of intellectual quotient is far more indicative of truly abject ignorance than is, in and of itself, the the type of automobile which a person elects to drive.

8. My SUV has a Kerry sticker but
I guess I'll go out and remove it now. I didn't know I was so politically incorrect. If I drive it to the poll in Nov. do I then have to vote for Bush also?

17. Hmmmm, Ya' know.....
No. I don't.

Life is just too damn short and in the best spirit of that character, Joel Goodson in Risky Business, sometimes you just gotta' say "What the Fuck" and move on - living and enjoying that short life irrespective of the mandates of the politically correct police, thank you very much.

30. And, a reply such as that....
... demonstrates even less insight, understanding, and awareness than did the first; as impossible as that might seem. See, everyone knows that an ex-Respiratory Therapist such as myself would never smoke.

Oh but that's okay because - in keeping with your need to broadly categorize and rigorously pigeon-hole people predicated upon singular and meaningless aspects of their behaviour - you never took the time to ask.

31. suv's have other problems beside gas guzzling
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 05:14 PM by nannah
although our country's dependence on cheap oil is a driver of current world disorder.

another problem with suvs is the issue of their elevated traffic fatalities and more accidents involving rolling over family members in the driveway due to poor visibility. It occurs to me that people would not use these cars if they knew about these problems. hence the conclusion that they are ignorant of this information.

i'm not clear where political correctness fits into this discussion.

34. I have to agree with ya.
Live in So Ca. have owned 4 SUV's for over 13 years. Way before they were everywhere. If you don't have one here, you could get killed, everyone has them.

My GMC Suburban has a KErry Sticker and a DU sticker.

When I see nice broad brush statements, ignorance is the first word that comes to mind.

11. I recently saw a Bush/Satan '04 bumper sticker that looked...
...just like the real Bush/Cheney stickers-- so much so that initially I thought it was the first B/C'04 sticker I'd seen. I was just mumbling "stoopid freeper" to myself when I did a double-take and realized what it really said.

with a computer generated sign that said "Give War a Chance...God Is On Our Side." Beneath it was a photo of the chimp looking like an absolute doofus with his mouth open and tongue hanging out. It was great.

15. In the past 2 months, I've seen . . .
1 Bush sticker & 7 Kerry stickers on assorted vehicles. (Oh, & the Bush sticker was on an old beat up Nissan truck)

Last week, the driver of a big Dodge pickup truck passed me, honked & gave me a thumbs up.

18. SUV's SUCK!!!!!!
Sports cars are far more fun.

:toast:

Call me ka-razy but I far prefer something with a lower center of gravity which seems to fit my driving style more than an SUV ever could. And that is why they make both chocolate AND vanilla.

27. I was Bush* for Halloween last year
And my wife was Condi Rice. Although we were mocking them (I was dressed up in his flight suit outfit, and my name tag said "Commander in Cheef") I still got quite a mixture of comments. People who knew me thought it was hilarious. People who didn't know me told me how much they love our president. It's interesting getting the various reactions, but it seems a little different wearing a normal Bush/Cheney tee. The less of those things floating around, the better. I think seeing people supporting Bush* has a validating effect to people who are on the fence. People need to get the impression that this vocal neo-con minority is a sparse and dying breed. That supporting them is something to be embarrassed of.

So I know what you mean when you say it's kind of fun, but I won't be trying it.

23. 3/4-Ton, Extra Cab, Long Bed Pickup Here
With a Kerry Sticker in the back window. Someone got a problem with that? Oh, its a Diesel by the way, it gets very close to 20 miles per gallon when its not towing (an 8,000 pound trailer), which is much of the time.

It simply isn't possible to know a person's political bent by observing what he or she drives. It does not bother me that we buy the things we need from other countries. What bothers me is that other countries no longer buy the things we make or have for sale.

thank God he only lives about 5 miles from his job.:) I told him his timing was off but what the Hell, he's 27 and never listened anyway, except his politics.
I don't care what a person drives, just so they support Kerry and the Dems.

Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 12:29 PM by mirandawright
I drive a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, because I have 2 small children, & that means strollers, car seats, etc.

My Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker should be arriving soon.

I also like punk rock & don't own a pair of loafers, a turtleneck, or anything in Burberry plaid.

So there.

Kerry bumper sticker, an old beat up truck with a redneck driving came within 2 inches of my back bumper - then pulled in front of me so I could see his * bumper sticker - about that time, he saw my DOD sticker with my little eagle.

28. Just a question w/regard to the SUV folks

How many of you actually need them? Here in Virginia they are almost de riguer, and it is quite funny to watch these 4WD behemoths, devoid of dirt, pulling into 1/3 acre lots in the suburbs.

It certainly makes sense if one needs the 4WD capacity or the space, but I must say it is amusing here to watch women who can barely see out them try and navigate down the interstate under the pretense that they are somehow "safer." Hell, I'm 6'1'' and I can BARELY get into the big Navigators, Excursions, etc.

Please don't think of me as the car police - far from it. I drive a truck (I need it for business), as well as a new Audi w/Quattro, which we bought for the upcoming move back north (New Englanders know the two best winter cars are Subaru and Audi). It's just sad sometimes to see/hear the rationale for these beasts- my favorite is the Hummer guy who bought one to "support the troops."

36. I drive two 8 cyl vehicles...
...one of which is my company vehicle (in that, I have no choice). Yes, I'm concerned that my usage of fuel only contributes to the problems - political as well as environmental - that progressives such as ourselves are trying to abate, but I'm not presently in a position to buy a hybrid, or even buy a new/used 4 or 6 cyl vehicle for my personal car. So, basically I'm stuck with my gas guzzler for the time being, as many are given the shaky economy for the lower and middle class. To those who want to criticize others for their choice of vehicle, well :eyes:...

That said, both of my vehicles have DU stickers, Kerry stickers or anti-Bush stickers (the stickers on my company vehicle are there surreptitiously - if and when I'm asked by my company to remove them, I will, but since I don't work from the main office and work from my home, I'll leave them there for as long as possible)...
