Why would we interupt the election for a terrorist attack, when Bush won't
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 03:22 PM by mzmolly
interrupt reading "My Pet Goat" ???

I suggest we start trumpeting this meme. Perhaps they'll reconsider this ploy if America is reminded of how Bush sat with his thumb up his arse shortly after 911? ;)

The magazine cited unnamed sources who told it that the Department of Homeland Security asked the Justice Department (news - web sites) last week to review what legal steps would be needed to delay the election if an attack occurred on the day before or the day of the election.

The department was asked to review a letter to Ridge from DeForest Soaries, who is the chairman of the new U.S. Election Assistance Commission, the magazine said.

The commission was created in 2002 to provide funds to the states to the replace punch card voting systems and provide other assistance in conducting federal elections.

In his letter, Soaries pointed out that while New York's Board of Elections suspended primary elections in New York on the day of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, "the federal government has no agency that has the statutory authority to cancel and reschedule a federal election."

Until the Little Turd from Crawford is impeached, tried and imprisoned.

Or someone else is inaugurated in January 2005.

Whichever comes sooner.

9. Bingo! That's what I've been thinking. If only
the Democrats start their legal people on this immediately and have a contingency plan. Of course, I would think that they are on to this already. In the past, I might have doubted their preparation. But now I have a lot of confidence in the Kerry camp, based on what I've seen thus far.

I've thought of doing a Letter to the Editor about this also. The more the average Joe hears about this the less inclined the people will be to panic and run out for duct tape ballots or something that Uncle Tom Ridge tells them to do.

10. YESSSSSS!!!!!!! If we postpone the election, the terrorists win!

Even if "terrorists" nuke a city, we must follow our leader's example and continue with whatever was scheduled.

We'll continue with the election as calmly as he continued with "My Pet Goat."

And maybe have some preprinted MIHOP signs.

12. What if the terrorists attack a blue state?
What if they attack a city like Chicago and Obama loses statewide election to the senate? Of course the same could be true for a natural disaster. This is something we may not want to dismiss lightly even if it looks wrong at first glance.

13. I'm not dismissing anything at all. Just wanting to make sure we don't
end up with another LIHOP on our hands.

If we are *safer* because Bush is in office, as the R's would have us believe then this talk of delaying the election is bull, right?

14. As I said I would be suspect, however
Dems should consider the effects on us and prepare so it is not a last minute crisis. One thing that makes this more interesting was a prediction by a panelist on one of the Sunday morning talk shows that Zahrqawi(sp) might be killed by a friendly terrorist. WTF? Friendly to whom?
