Whoa! Republicans getting way testy!
I stopped at a Republican table on the pier at Huntington Beach today, and I asked them how many dead Americans the war was worth. Man, they immediately came unglued and started cursing and threatening to call the cops. A big crowd formed around us, so I turned and asked them if they thought it was illegal to ask questions in public. Then I posed the question about the dead Americans to everybody around, but they were all too timid to speak out. I stood my ground for about 5 minutes, during which time the Republicans kept screaming and cursing at me like demons. I asked them loudly if that was the way they behaved at their Republican meetings. Then having made my point, I left before it could get out of hand.

I urge everybody to ask this question when you see a Republican table in a public venue. It is a real eye-opener as to the level of anxiety those folks are feeling.

fairly commonplace by September. We need to get in these peoples' faces and make them confront reality!

12. I think you're right. I am pretty sure these people who get violent about
losing will have to do their best to restrain themselves. I will be carrying recording devices (small MP3 can record for hours) to get these angry villains on tape. Everybody be diligent, we are dealing with the gestapo here.

21. I agree. However, I also believe that there are some
that are dedicated and won't ever change, don't want to change, so I won't waste my breath on them. My target area are the undecided people, the one's on the brink, the one's with second thoughts about several things, and generally those that aren't even registered to vote in the first place.

In any case, WAY TO GO CHANGO... I wish I could have seen it. lol

13. ooohhh Bravo Chango!
I was raised in H.B. (I now live in the Bay Area) and my parents live near downtown. If I'm not mistaken, F9/11 is playing at the movie theaters near the pier. Maybe that's why the repubs need a propeganda table nearby!

14. You encountered a typical freeper personality characteristic.
Contrasting viewpoints are simply not allowed. It would have been interesting to hear what the police would have done had they been called. You have my admiration.

33. here's what happened in DC
I was there last year at the Vets for Peace march. right next to the Lincoln Memorial was a kiosk with two viet vets selling stuff. I went up to them, showed them my dad's tags from WWII, told them I was wearing them cause we lost the war to fascists like bush/cheney

one of the guys went insane, started yelling and yelling; told me to get away. I tried to reason with him (never raised my voice a decibel). there was a motorcycle cop about thirty feet away and he called him over and told him to arrest me. luckily, I'd just taken the cops picture, after talking to him awhile about the demonstrators. he said I had to leave, after I asked him what right they had to call a cop on me at a public venue. he said since they were in a kiosk, they had the right to not be hassled.

so maybe you'd have been in trouble had they called cops

also that day I got pictures of and had a brief talk with B1 Bob Dornan. asked him how he felt about Al Franken at time of war. he said he liked Al but thought he'd gone cracked over the war. I kept egging him on like that, til his wife realized what I was doing and intervened. she knew what I was up to, and I talked with her for awhile about how fucked the war was, while B1 talked with many surrounding Dianne Arbus-like sycophants.

some fun

Is what the Shrub says at every chance. Good for you Chango! Was Saddam worth the lives of over 1000 soldiers? Is the world better off without them? Repukes really need to ask themselves that question.

There are still a lot of idiots that think he had something to do with 9/11, thanks to Crashcart Cheney. They have no good answer to this question!

I'm glad you could keep your cool, kinna funny how overly reactive they are. Or is that hyper-sensitive to pricking at some barely held (mis) beliefs ?

Back before the Invasion of Iraq, I was breakfasting with my friends at a crowded cafe.

We talked over the gloomy issues of the day, how the sheeple were buying into the inane rhetoric of the administration was spewing, and so forth.

Then suddenly, at a table near us, a group of diners having finished their eating, all got up to leave. This bigger, older guy, came over to my table, glaring harshly at me, flushed of face, said thru angry clenched teeth: "I was in Vietnam!!!"

And he whirled about and stormed off.

We all sat there, with "wtf?" looks on our faces.

27. Here are the facts:

-A leader was installed by a lawsuit before the US SC instead of by the will of the people

-Portions of the US Constitution have been suspended under the "Patriot Act"

-According to a recent Senate Intelligence Committee Report, a sovereign country that had no WMDs and had nothing to do with 9/11 was attacked and occupied.

-Thousands of civilians have been killed as well as 1000+ American, British, and "coalition of the willing" soldiers.

- Sec of Defense Rumsfeld ordered innocent people to be tortured (possibly including children) in violation of US and international law.

-Now they are talking about suspending the elections.

If a liberal president had done even half of these things I wouldn't vote for him/her.

35. If a "liberal" president had done 1 of the things on that list I wouldn't
vote for them. Of course if they had done even one of the things on that list they wouldn't qualify for the term liberal.

So called conservatives seem to have an endless ability to justify their leaders actions. "If the pResident says so, then it must be right." They seem to lack any capacity for critical thinking or evaluating a situation for themselves. I think that a large part of the repuke appeal is that it is so much easier to just accept what you are told, rather than tire the neurons with a bit of thought.

38. this is classic

And he whirled about and stormed off."

it begs for the response, "So was John Kerry. In fact he won 3 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star there. Where was George Bush?"

(by the way, it seems that if you do a Google search for "john kerry" and "purple hearts" the first listing is for "Vietnam Veterans Against John Kerry" with a headline of "Kerry Confesses to War Crimes" ... how nice)

29. Fight or flight
I admire you for standing up for your beliefs.

A month or so ago I was waiting around for my Saturday AM yoga class at the local Y to start. Up walks this puffed up piece of ca-ca wearing a tee shirt that says 'Stop Hanoi John'. I was so mad my heart started beating fast and I could barely see. I mean this is a freakin' community recreation center, not some political rally, and this guy is questioning the patriotism of my candidate who is a decorated war hero. By the time I got it together to confront him, he had moved on. I hope next time I am more on the ball.

Where they trying to scream that they were after the terrorists?

What sort of counter arguments did you make or what did you say in response to their screaming...?
