Boston Herald: Kerry as "Sexual Aggressor"
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 04:52 PM by MarkTwain
This looks like a significant and strategic "under the table" meme right out of the office of Karl Rove. Hmmmm, ties in very nicely with his overall anti-gay agenda. Gotta' give it to those pukes, they just LOVE a theme!

What's up with all this John-John touchy-feely?
Boston Herald 7/11/04 Margery Eagan

``After a mere two days on the campaign trail, the first signs of tension between John Kerry and running mate John Edwards emerged today as Sen. Edwards requested, firmly and unequivocally, that Mr. Kerry stop grabbing his . . . (word that rhymes with crass).''OK. I'm kidding. Then again, who knows?

The above quote was stolen from humorist Andy Borowitz on the matter that's perplexed America: this constant stream of hugs, caresses of face, neck and hands and nonstop knee-rubbing that's become the signature of the nascent Kerry/Edwards campaign.

What's the deal? Our own John Kerry is clearly chief caresser. Some would call him the sexual aggressor, in fact, lunging and thrusting at his running mate with robust enthusiasm.

Alas, Edwards is starting to grimace a bit as well, apparently, in some photos, startled and confused by the power of his boss's bold embrace. Women's groups, were they not totally in Kerry's tank, would be lecturing us all on the power imbalance here.

4. The Herald will piece together and say ANYTHING to smear Kerry.
Rupert's local rag is on a mission, and it's not going to let 'journalism' get in its way.

Wow, just EVERYBODY got Uncle Karl's call/e-mail
The Imperial Pravda Meassage of the Month is that Kerry and Edawrds are gay.

MESSAGE REPEATS to ALL PAID PROPAGANDISTS with the Imperial Goebbels v2.0 Team

MESSAGE BEGINS

The Imperial Pravda Meassage of the Month is that Kerry and Edawrds are gay.

Ah, if only they did it quite straightforward as that. But they have learned from the Nazis to Nixon not to do stuff like that.

However, it is quite clear that is what has happened.

22. How do you think they do it?
They all get a fax or email saying to promote the notion that Kerry and Edwards are gay for each other.

How is that different from what you just described?

It's a helluva lot better than the "Skipper/Gilligan" S&M Dynamic that Shrub & Cheney obviously have.

6. It's clear the repukes are going to push this ...
.. CRAP. And that's okay. First, it makes no sense. Second, every log cabin republican will switch to our side starting with Andrew Sullivan.

Apparently Karl Rove is going to use gay baiting just like race baiting. I hope they do. I hope they reveal what is right down in their sick souls ....

Look at the accounts of what went down in Abu Ghraib.
Or visit one of the US Prisons housing millions of male, non-violent drug offenders.

There is no substance to anything she writes or says. She's been attacking Teresa Heinz for years.

15. Somebody should organize a boycott of the Boston Herald and New
York Post. Consumer boycotts are very difficult to pull off. But these would be regional boycotts, so a little easier to organize. Both papers are anti-labor, so Jobs with Justice chapters in NYC and Boston could pull together area labor (powerful in both cities) into the boycotts (assuming doing so would not violate Landrum-Griffin). Also both papers are virulently anti-Islamic and anti-Arab, so you could throw the ADC into the mix. This might prove particularly effective in NYC, where a large proportion of the Post's vendors are Arab or Muslim.

... but it would be an empty gesture: For years I've avoided that paper like the festering miasma of plague that it is....

16. I've canceled my Herald subscription.
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 06:30 PM by louis c
I will not ever buy that newspaper again.

I subscribe to four (now three) newspapers.

I have called my delivery service and told them that if anyone with that paper entered my property, I'd charge them with trespassing.

It has become nothing but a prop for Fox news and the RNC.

20. Boston Globe is okay. Boston Phoenix is a little better, but it's a weekly
--kinda like the Village Voice, Valley Advocate or Philadelphia Weekly (if you're familiar with any of those).

17. Incredible!!! What a stupid, non-issue.
The right can't seem to focus on real issues, perhaps because they have no real issues to support them in the first place. So they have to go after the homophobe vote. How much lower can the right go?

19. The new repug talking point.
This must be the new repug talking point in the newsrooms now. Even in the 60 Minutes interview, Stahl kept talking about Kerry-Edwards pre-nuptial agreement and them being in a marriage now.

I've only been following politics since Shrub was selected resident. Has this happened with other presidential/vice-presidential candidates?

21. The Herald is not fit to line my bird's cage.
I believe it's circulation is much smaller than The Globe's, and I'd guess that many of its readers like it because it's tabloid-sized and easier to hold and read on the subway. (Although I don't see it as often on the subway since a free daily, The Metro, showed up in town a couple of years ago.) The Herald's been a useless rag for years.

... Actually, the Metro is also quite biased, in my opinion. Much more subtle though.
