new bush hate ads running in IL
I just saw one, and Mrs. TOJ, who's not very political, but tends to vote Dem, sees it and gets discouraged about voting at all. So the plan of getting people to not vote will work in some instances.

2. Bush has no chance in Illinois
It's a Dem stronghold. Sure, they're annoying to watch, but at the end of the day, BushCo is simply pissing their money away.

8. In that case it would be impossible to tell.

Cable systems keep a certain number of slots open for local advertising but my guess is it was a national spot. But in this case it would be next to impossible to tell if it was national, regional or local.

12. You can get Adobe Free!
Lots of places on the Web have it. Google the phrase 'adobe acrobat' and the words 'download' and 'free'' and it's yours for the taking.

6. I is Illini, too
lots and lots of bush ads here, but they're all on CNN, ESPN, etc

nothing local

that said, I DREAM of Ditka running.

Channel 11 (PBS) talked about it the other day, and one of the reporters says he's pissed that younger people only remember him for his boner ads, not his football days, so he might be ego-addled enough to run

please please please do, Mike

you're a LOT stupider than Bush

please

it would be SO much fun

11. Barack Obama will bring out so many non-voters that we'll easily win.
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 10:11 PM by LoZoccolo
I truly feel that he is the type of candidate that can bring some cynical non-voters to the polls, and while they're there, they'll probably vote for Kerry as well.

15. It is, but there was a study out that the purpose behind negative ads
is to make people think both parties stink and there is no reason to vote between them. Seems they are scared about all the new voter registrations in Illinois and want to stop Democrats from voting.

16. No Bush In Dick Daley Land...
I see the Bush commercials on the cable (Rove News Network, MSRNC, Faux), but not anything coming from either my local cable system (at least in the top hour local inserts...and those generally are for local candidates...virtually all Repugnicans) or the Chicago stations.

I sure hope I see Bunnypants ads on Chicago TV...that'll mean that Indiana is in play! It'd be great to force Rove to shovel some of that corporate cash to big money Chicago stations (2/3rds the ad rates of New York or LA) just to hold onto Roast Beef, Indiana!

Of course I'd love to see Ditka run...or stumble. He'd be good theater (especially in a debate) and just add to the disaster the Illinois GOOP is headed to this November.

Last night I heard a local GOOP hack, Tom Roeser and his little Repugnican buddies out with the knives about the status of the state party. These are "true conservatives" (translation: fundie wingnuts) and it was amusing to listen to these once sanctamonious and still pompous assholes eating each other alive!

If these Bunnypants ads are turning your wife off from voting, she just must not care about this country.
