This Dean supporter is glad that John Kerry won the nomination.
I love Howard Dean, and I think he could have been a great President. But it has become increasingly apparent that this is no normal election. The forces of the bush empire are getting more frightening every day. The Plame threads on DU this week have been great. Today the bush empire began getting us used to the idea that elections might be suspended in November. As mind-boggling as it seems, It is now within the realm of possibility that elections will be suspended, martial law declared, and all DU types put in concentration camps.

These are immoral people who will stop at nothing. They are the enemy of democracy. When the founding fathers wrote the Constitution, they had the bush empire in mind.

So why John Kerry? For some of the same reasons I was against him during the Primary campaign. He was born into the ruling class. He's Skull & Bones. He uses questionable tactics in a political campaign. He's been a Senator for twenty years. In other words, he has spent his life inside the belly of the beast.

I think he knows better than anyone exactly what he is up against. He knows how these vicious thugs operate. He knows what they did to President Clinton for eight years. He knows he could have easily walked away from it all to live a wealthy retirement. Yet he decided to run for President.

I think Kerry is better prepared to battle these reactionary forces than Dean would have been. In some ways, Dean was too naive and idealistic. I don't think he ever quite understood how powerful these people are.

I want to believe that Kerry is running for President because he wants to reclaim our government from this fascist cabal. I hope that he is still, deep down, that young man who returned from Viet Nam and courageously spoke out. The big question is, when Kerry becomes President will he be content to co-exist with the beast, or will he attempt to slay it?
