1. I don't think the RWingers realize the power of a woman with integrity.
They expected her to fold, keep quiet and go away. And she is not only determined, but articulate, intelligent, and beautiful.

SHE MIGHT MAKE A DIFFERENCE AGAINST ALL THE POLITICIANS IN THE US AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

It is amazing her dodgedness... She has all my admiration.

2. did you see her picture with the king of all whistleblowers?
he's urging everyone in government to come out of the woodwork--put their careers, freedom on the line to get the truth out

had it not been for the plumbers, he might still be in jail

it was good old Ronnie's last FU to Democracy. (that's my personal bitter biased take-what a frigging miserable week that was)

They could have run it the next week? Why not? DAMN it's enough to make you believe in conspiracies or something.

Translator in Eye of Storm on Retroactive Classification
by Anne E. Kornblut

WASHINGTON -- Sifting through old classified materials in the days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, FBI translator Sibel Edmonds said, she made an alarming discovery: Intercepts relevant to the terrorist plot, including references to skyscrapers, had been overlooked because they were badly translated into English.

Edmonds, 34, who is fluent in Turkish and Farsi, said she quickly reported the mistake to an FBI superior. Five months later, after flagging what she said were several other security lapses in her division, she was fired. Now, after more than two years of investigations and congressional inquiries, Edmonds is at the center of an extraordinary storm over US classification rules that sheds new light on the secrecy imperative supported by members of the Bush administration.

Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds
In a rare maneuver, Attorney General John Ashcroft has ordered that information about the Edmonds case be retroactively classified, even basic facts that have been posted on websites and discussed openly in meetings with members of Congress for two years. The Department of Justice also invoked the seldom-used ''state secrets" privilege to silence Edmonds in court. She has been blocked from testifying in a lawsuit brought by victims of the Sept. 11 attacks and was allowed to speak to the panel investigating the Sept. 11 attacks only behind closed doors.

There is way more to this story than they are letting on to, the Phoenix memo got wide play because it was playable, this stuff isn't because it gives up motives and deeper players.

What country presently or in history would knowingly let a group of spies operate in a independent group that secretly comprimises the information they are presenting or being presented with and openly scoffs at the country and their employers who they are supposedly working for?

11. SE part of * damage control?
that is what some people appear to be implying.

yet, Edmonds has stated the following:

http://baltimorechronicle.com/050704SibelEdmonds.shtml

SE: If they were to do real investigations we would see several significant high level criminal prosecutions in this country.
...

SE: You are correct. But I can tell you that the issue, on one side, boils down to money--a lot of money. And it boils down to people and their connections with this money, and that's the portion that, even with this book, has not been mentioned to this day. Because then it starts touching some people in high places.
...

That doesn't exactly sound like the official "al queda did it".

12. and this
<snip>

CD: What are they so afraid of?

SE: They're afraid of information, of the truth coming out, and accountability – the whole accountability issue that will arise. But it's not as complicated as it might seem. If they were to allow the whole picture to emerge, it would just boil down to a whole lot of money and illegal activities.

CD: Hmm, well I know you can't name names, but can you tell me if any specific officials will suffer if your testimony comes out?

SE: Yes. Certain elected officials will stand trial and go to prison.

16. The burden is on the people trying to shut her up
Major media sources and people like Attorney General John Ashcroft trying to lay siege to someone that might otherwise just be a blip on the screen could be an indication there is something a little more tender there.

We might never get an official version for a long time, but if the congress can be flipped slightly at least to Democratic one we might get hear and be able to do something about these thugs and what they have been up too.

Gagging Congress
by Sibel Edmonds

Attorney General John Ashcroft, the Department of Justice, and the FBI have been engaged in covering up my reports and investigations into my allegations for over two years now
(snip)
They are not protecting the 'national security' of the United States. On the contrary, they are endangering our national security by covering up facts and information related to criminal activities against this country and it's citizens. To this date the American people have not heard the real facts of these criminal activities, nor of the involved semi-legit organizations, nor of the connected officials. The Department of Justice and this administration are fully aware that making this information public will bring about the question of accountability. And they do not want to be held accountable. It is for these reasons that I have been striving to get the Congress to hold its own public hearings regarding these issues. I no longer intend to go behind their secured-closed doors to testify. I intend to testify openly, publicly, and under oath.

18. How come people make references to stories that seem obscure?
Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 04:16 PM by nolabels
Here is another story that assumes or assumes it's readers know what's being reported on here. (buried may I ad, but probably not by reporter, more like editor)

Senators press for release of FBI terrorist report

By Jerry Seper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Two senior Senate Judiciary Committee members want the Justice Department to release a newly completed classified report on the FBI's handling of information it received prior to the September 11 attacks, including an agency memo on Zacarias Moussaoui and information about two of the al Qaeda hijackers.
(snip)
The senators also want the release of two other reports that involve accusations made by a former contract linguist, Sibel Edmonds, about problems in the FBI translation program, and an audit of the FBI's overall translation program.
(snip)
http://washingtontimes.com/national/20040712-121949-4162r.htm

The article even makes it sound like they had some unqualified translators in the service, and not nefarious activities going on in them (classic disinfo if you ask me)

On Edit forgot the link from where I got the link, thanks http://antiwar.com/
