Ron Reagan will speak in prime time at the Democratic National Convention
(CNN) -- Ron Reagan will speak in prime time at the Democratic National Convention on the importance of stem cell research, a senior adviser to presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry told CNN on Sunday.

The Kerry adviser, who did not want to be identified, said the appearance of the younger son of the late former President Ronald Reagan came about after "overtures were made by both sides -- friends of both."

The adviser did not say on which night Reagan, 46, will speak. The four-day convention kicks off July 26 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Ron Reagan, a self-described liberal whose political views were often at odds with his conservative Republican father, has said publicly that he does not support President Bush's re-election.

Good move by the DNC. Should help open some people's eyes.

5. Guess he won't be speaking at the Repuke convention.
Of course, Nancy could still show, but it's doubtful.

"Sorry, we don't believe in science. We believe in God. If God wanted a solution to your problem, He would provide it without killing any babies. Okay, a few Iraqi babies were killed while we liberated their country, but that had nothing to do with science. Our bottom line is the only science we care about."

(sarcasm now off)

6. And the GOP thought they were hot shit because they got Zell Miller
HA! We got Ron Reagan!

And the main difference between Ron and Zell is most people actually know who the heck Ron Reagan is. Zell is fairly obscure to most of America, but I imagine a few heads will turn when they see The Gipper's son at the Dem Convention.

7. HA! I knew it!
I said it here just after Ron's moving eulogy for his father and the slam at *. Some said it would never happen, so now is my chance to say those words I just love to say but rarely get to use: I TOLD YOU SO!!!

This is really great news -- I can't wait till the convention!

8. Will this be televised?
I've heard the the networks won't be carrying very much of the conventions this year. I suppose we can see it on C-Span.
