Was Jeb caught red-handed in effort to rig the Florida election?
Has anyone seen this story on TV? Has anyone seen anything that asks if this scam could have been run in Florida 2000?

Florida List for Purge of Voters Proves Flawed
By FORD FESSENDEN

Published: July 10, 2004

Florida election officials used a flawed method to come up with a listing of people believed to be convicted felons, a list that they are recommending be used to purge voter registration rolls, state officials acknowledged yesterday. As a result, voters identifying themselves as Hispanic are almost completely absent from that list.

Of nearly 48,000 Florida residents on the felon list, only 61 are Hispanic. By contrast, more than 22,000 are African-American.

About 8 percent of Florida voters describe themselves as Hispanic, and about 11 percent as black.

So, Hispanic felons would have been allowed to vote, while black felons, and maybe black non-felons, would be purged from the voter registration list.

Jeb and his appointed stooge Secretary of State claim it was just a "mistake." And, of course, the corporate, no-questions-asked, whore media took them at their word.

Perhaps no one in Florida knows how handle a small, simple database.

It's a curious thing that all of JebCos "mistakes" either greatly benefit GWB and the Repubs or are a wash benefiting no one.

When are we going to speak up?

3. This is not new
Another aspect of S Florida's vote fraud is how many Cuban-American felons get their voting rights re-instituted, while other citizens are refused. I learned about this (anecdotally) while working on the S Fla Dem campaign of Annie Betancourt - who lost to Mario Diaz Balart (in a new district drawn up by Mario when he was in the Fla legislature).

Florida politics is a cesspool.

4. They've pretty much scrapped the list in light of this...
...however, I believe individual elections supervisors are being given the choice whether or not to use the list. That said, only the most uneducated wingnut panders would consider using the list, given the publicity.

7. the most damning thing...
was the fact that they fought to keep the list secret, the media had to sue them for it.

And I agree, this is not getting covered near enough. It's should be a huge story, given what happened in 2000.

8. I remember something about a private firm
being paid some enormous amount of money to come up with the 2000 list. As I recall it had ties to right wingers in some way.
Anyone recall this?

10. The bottom line.
Had to go to the last sentence of the article to find it:

"The exclusion of Hispanics from the purge list explains some of the wide discrepancy in party affiliation of voters on the felon list, which bears the names of 28,025 Democrats and just 9,521 Republicans, with most of the rest unaffiliated."

28,025 Democrats
9,521 Republicans

Don't ever try to tell me the election of 2000 wasn't stolen.

12. They were caught red-handed in 2000!
and they still got away with it!
Why do you think they are trying again? Because it already worked!
Criminals are stupid and will continue the same MO until stopped.

13. Stupid Criminals?
I'm not sure. It takes some brainpower to pull something like this off.
Misdirected yes, but I doubt that successful criminals are significantly lacking in the IQ department. There is an abundance of brainpower here on DU and I'm sure someone here can come up with the proof, either pro or con that successful criminals are not stupid.

the even more successful crime goes undetected.

14. He got away with it the first time
Why would he think he couldn't again?

Speaking up as yet to do any good. If it did, he would have been jailed for Selection 2000. Because a great many of us spoke up.

15. Is it Hispanics commit very few crimes for which they are caught
and become felons or is this just another vast criminal conspiracy for the probability of these numbers is so remote as to be beyond reason or comprehension?
