I can't believe what the GOP is doing now.
Even the right is beginning to see that this war was a mistake. They are realizing that they are in trouble. People are dying over there for no reason and the people of this country are about to get pissed off. Bush ignores the NAACP's invitation while John Kerry is becoming more and more respected state by state with his wise VP choice of Edwards. The GOP is in BIG trouble. So what do they do? Bring up terror attacks and gay marriage to divert everyone's attention. This idiot is using hate and discrimination while medaling with our constitution for political gain.

1. And fear, don't forget fear
Yes, they're using hate, with the gay issue, but their big weapon is FEAR. If everyone is afraid enough, they'll let the Bush Administration trample the Constitution to nothing, hoping they'll be kept safe.

4. And didn't Benjamin Franklin proffer that those willing to give up freedom
for a little safety will soon have neither? Moreover, are we really safer considering we have now made Iraq a terrorist haven and have failed to fix an untold number of glaring weaknesses in our own homeland security as those monies were instead used to bombard, invade, and occupy Iraq making it a terrorist haven?

2. Yeah, but it isn't working quite as well this time...
People are waking up, though maybe too slowly for those of us who were onto them four years ago. Keep the alarm going.

3. And they think they can supress the rest of the Sen. Intel report
At their press conferences Friday Senators Rockefeller, Wyden and Feinstein practically begged people to demand the second half of their report be finished and released NOW.

Here's my thread with transcript from the press conferences:

Call Congress toll free and demand the report be finished NOW - not after the November election.

7. They Only Need their Base
Diebold will fix the elections for them.

If they are so far behind that they have to canncel the elections,
or if they are so obviously rigged that there is widespread unrest,
they want their very-well-armed base energized to keep them in power
no matter what.

We keep on assuming that it cannot happen, that the country would
resist a Bush* takeover. We assume that all of those RW militias
would actually fight against the government in that case.

It isn't so. They are the Xtian-Taliban-in-waiting. They would all
support the Bush* regime in its final push to total theocratic fascism.
