Elections and terrorists: bit of an "I told you so!" and a warning
Extract from a post I made about 6 months ago:

The actions of our government in response to the terrorist threat and the wishes of the White House are both subservient and misguided.

Let's take the official government line just once, to try and reach its rabid supporters and make them see sense:

OK, so the terror attacks are coming from a shadowy cabal that wish to spread disorder and chaos; what better way to do so than to manipulate us in a way that leads to civil unrest and eventually, violent confrontation? The claim of convenient timing does not necessarily point the finger of blame at our government, but it does pose serious questions regarding overall responsibility.

A terror attack on British soil that just happens to precede the release of the results of the Hutton Inquiry? On American soil (or near enough to freak people out) just before the presidential elections in the U.S.?

How many of you would ask yourselves whether it was convenient at this stage for the government to let one slip through the net? Given the timing, how many of us would take seriously assertions that our freedoms were being taken from us for our own protection? How many, in such circumstances, would see their only option to be an outright fight for those freedoms?

Even if the government succeeded in a complete clampdown, there would be many who would continue to fight from the shadows.

If such a scenario did come about, it wouldn't matter who was behind the attack and who did the bulk of the manipulating; the result would still be exactly what Bush claims to be trying to prevent - 'a chaotic world ruled by force'.

1. Don't you know manic...9/11 changed everything..
Your points are dead on manic...there are only one of 2 possible explanations for all this. Either the neocons are to stupid to realize that the terrorists won as soon as bush said 9/11 changed eveything (after all that is what they want) or they ARE fascists taking advantage of the attack to put things in place to help them maintain control and tear down our democracy. Which is it?

When our government announces to the world they are afraid the terrorists will effect the election they have acknowledeged that the terrorists have won...they have us already worried...making contigency plans...blah blah. OR the nazis are trying to manipulate the public and prepare us for the postponement that is coming. Either way the nazis need to be ran out of Washington.

If the objective of these terror attacks and threats are to change our democracy they have won or at least are in the process of winning. Oh yeah...bush deserves 4 more years.

Will someone please stop these motherf#@$!s

2. Plame Indictments will stop them cold....have patience...
Once indictments are thrown down Bush will effectivly been nutured.

That is the only hope we have right now. Because Bush and the Neocons will attack America and cancel elections.

If they stay in power much longer it will be too late.

Those indictments need to happen and happen soon to save America from a long extended Bush stay.

Four more years means 4 years of consolidation of neocon power, more war and more robbing the treasury by the rich.

Indictments will show the public in no uncertain terms that something is REALLY wrong with Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz/Delay and the rest of the Neocon rabble.

The press will not be able to ignore the President indicted for obstruction of justice...
