How can the feds delay something that doesn't exist? |
|
There is no such thing as a federal election. All elections are State or City. they may elect federal officers but it is done at the state level. Only the states could delay or alter their elections not the federal government. Explain to me how I am wrong here.

1. You're not wrong, they are playing on the "appearance" of authority |
|
It is a local issue as evidenced by the 9/11 New York primary precedent.
There is no federal authority save teh constitutional authority of congress to set the date if they choose.
They are setting up the nation for Martial Law because there is no consitutional authority to postpone elections in the event of terrorist attack.

3. Exactly, this "legal justification" is the same as the Torture Memo |
|
They are going to do it.
If they succeeed, it matters not why, then it becomes "law".
Just like any other Dirty Third-World Tyrannical Thugs.
EXACTLY like that.

But, that's the point.
The executive branch is seeking justification for an authority so massive in its scale, that by its implementation, it undermines the rationale for the Constitution itself. It would destroy republicanism in one stroke.
This is why I disagree with anyone who argues there is ever any reason for the federal government to cancel, postpone, or otherwise mess with any election process. I don't care if the postponement is needed; the federal government has zero authority to do it and should never, under any circumstances, be given that authority.

5. They set the precedent in 2000 when the SCOTUS threw out |
|
the Constitution, treasonously overrode the legal authority of the Florida Supreme Court to decide Florida election legalities, and handed the election to bush, all while claiming that their action set no precedent.
How much you wanna bet they'll use the *precedent* set in 2000 as their prima facia rationale for the SCOTUS once again endorsing bushco's usurping state's rights?

6. The president isn't elected by the people. |
|
Congress has the authority to determine when the electors gather to select a president. State elections are not mandated by the Constitution of the US. All that is mandated is that the states choose their electors.
