I support the death penalty for Ken Lay
I was out of town and unable to post during the days when Lay was indicted. So here is my statement.

(throat clearing)

Ken Lay is a vicious, violent criminal, an economic terrorist who is every bit as dangerous as any murderer or serial rapist. He constitutes a major threat to society if he walks the street. I consider him to be a terrorist, and as such he should be tried by a military tribunal. Quick, efficient, no paper pushing and no technicalities.

Perhaps more people on our side of the aisle will support capital punishment if there is a very real chance that white male corporate criminals can actually be executed for their crimes.

1. I don't support the death penalty under any circumstances
But I'll gladly see him rot away his life behind bars.

3. I'm against the death penalty, but even if I supported it, I'd..
accept a long prison term. I haven't even been sure it's possible to give him a long term, with all the jury tampering (seems like it at least) and high priced lawyers around. I was pleasantly surprised he was indicted.

4. With the stroke of a pen......

More persons have suffered and or died from the effects of a few strokes of a pen... than have died in all the wars that have ever been fought...

Kenny Boy is the mouse... middle class hard earned dollars is the cheese.... better get a bigger helmet.

5. Not for the death penalty
And though he has destroyed lives, I think he would get plenty justice from the shame of life in prison.

6. You also said you wouldn't care if Bush or Nader supporters got drafted
and killed in Iraq.

You're in the wrong party considering your bloodthirsty nature.

7. The death penalty is morally indefensible, period.
It is a relic of a barbaric past that should long ago have been consigned to the ash heap.

10. The death penalty is to painless for the likes of him
He needs to spend the rest of his time in a maximum security lockup as a prison bitch.

11. I agree. He ruined 20,000+ lives.
Yet we want death for Osama who, likely because of those secret energy meetings that probably involved high-end energy companies like Enron, killed only 3,000.

Death or in poverty in a crap economy?

And other corporations found guilty of certain corporate and environmental crimes. By death penalty, I mean immediate liquidation, and yanking their corporate charter. That goes for their corporate officers' assets as well. House, car, stocks -- liquidated. Put them out on the street.

It's obvious that a few years in a country club prison isn't enough deterrent to keep these Capitalist miscreants from stealing a few billion dollars. So I think we need to try turning them into paupers, and see if that gives them pause for thought...
