Benjamin Franklin really wanted the Wild Turkey as our national bird, instead of the Bald Eagle. He wrote that the Bald Eagle is really nothing but a big vulture, and not much noble about it. I didn't know what he meant until our eagle population grew and one day I saw about three of them picking at some old road kill along the highway. They really did look like vultures.
