If you want ammo for economic argumants & dig Paul Krugman then:
You have got to check out The Unofficial Paul Krugman Archive.

His LSE (A PDF file) talk is one of my favorites. He's all over the board with the issues, but man, I don't think there's another Economist in America that can communicate these ideas in such understandable terms.

"I actually wonder. This is the scale using these issues, if you actually look at the content of the policies, I guess there are different ways that you might look at it, but if you look at things like rates of corporate taxation, or top marginal tax rates Eisenhower looks like a raving socialist compared with modern politics."

"By Eisenhower era standards Clinton policies look extremely conservative economically. So, it is a remarkable drift, and again it is going opposite of the way you would think if you had a simple median voter theory in which the typical person’s interests are represented. How can this be happening, that’s the big question. How can it be that the world’s second largest democracy, the world’s richest democracy, biggest GDP democracy, appears to have its policy drifting in a direction, or in the case of Bush, galloping in a direction that is contrary to what you would have expected people to vote for, to support?"

Good question.

2. Hey JM!
I discovered this gem of a site years ago, but thanks for reminding me again. I hope all goes well in your newly adopted state. I think I can speak for the Guy James show regulars by saying that we miss you terribly. :hi:

4. It's going well so far.
Still in a probationary period so I can't sing L’Internationale during breaks yet. But it looks like a good move.

I miss doing the show though, it was incredibly cool to get to talk to (Steph just said "Not "to", "AT"") so many DU'ers and special guests.

3. Thanks for the link
And I believe a combination of Brock and Franks have the answer to your poised question.

The problem is getting the general American public to realise what is happening.

6. So many people vote based on "pro-life" that...
...economic interests of the majority are undermined.

Also, the electoral college system skews things.
