We would look like hypocrites if do what we say others should not - not an ideal strategy. If someone cannot win on the issues, they do not deserve to win.

Why not send him an email asking him why the company he used to run received no-bid government contracts? And ask him why that company is profiting, by fraud, at the expense of the American soldiers and taxpayers. Ask him whether he was aware that the company, that he used to head, was not capable of fulfilling its contracts and ask if he thinks it should be him or the company that is held accountable for negligence.

Maybe you'll get the response you desire.
