That makes sense since 42% of Americans are functionally illiterate . . . No wonder bush stays up in the polls no matter what he does or how often he lies.

Based on his SAT scores (1206), he's smarter than about 94-96% of the general public, with an IQ between 123 and 129 (depending on the conversion).

Keep in mind, though, that a full half of the public is smarter than the other half... we are a nation of half morons, and always will be, no matter how smart we become.

I personally don't like the "bush is stupid" meme, because he plays it like a fiddle. Sometimes I wonder if he intentionally mis-speaks, just to seem folksy.

Look at the difference in the percentage of bush/intelligent vs. kerry/intelligent. Quite obviously, people perceive a very real difference.

I always have misgivings about these types of assessments on intelligence. If you're stupid, you're not smart enough to know what intelligence really is. If you're intelligent, it's hard to understand stupidity but it is possible if there's enough motivation to do so.
