Someone please explain this apparent non-sequiter to me
I just read the article 9/11 Panelists Rebut Cheney on Information from July 7. In particular, this part seems ... well, wacky.

---
The commission chairman, Thomas H. Kean, a former Republican governor of New Jersey, and the vice chairman, Lee H. Hamilton, a former Democratic House member from Indiana, then called on Mr. Cheney to turn over any reports that would support the White House's insistence of links between Iraq and Al Qaeda.

A spokesman for Mr. Cheney, Kevin Kellems, said on Tuesday that the White House welcomed the statement, calling it proof that the White House had fully cooperated in providing the panel all available intelligence relevant to its work.
---

Excuse me? Hello? Did I just get stupider, or does the commision chair asking for additional information ostensibly withheld by the administration actually contradict, rather than prove, the White House's pretentions to full cooperation? Something is very wrong with this picture, in any case. Perhaps one or more paragraphs was omitted by the NY Times article?

Has there been ANY followup on what I can only interpret as a complete communication breakdown between the administration and the 9/11 panel?

1. Through the Neocon Looking Glass ...

When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'

`The question is,' said Alice, `whether you can make words mean so many different things.'

`The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, `which is to be master -- that's all.'

------------------------

For an administration that sees itself as master of the world, being dictatorial master of a few lousy words is barely worthy of note.

2. Remember - everything this administration says is a lie.
Orwell would be proud.

3. Their canned answers often don't fit the question
They have memorized answers to every question they think they're going to get, hoping their tidy sound bites make it to the mainstream instead of only to Faux. They think the answer will be published but that the question won't be.

That's how they're playing the game. There is no communitcation, just official press releases with canned responses. The only real question is how many people are going to keep buying this stuff.

4. And what did the NY Times have to say? They printed it!
So they must have read it. The "breakdown" is in the media that would print this garbage without comment.
