Military Donations going Democrat
I was wondering if a silent majority might be forming among our nations military, so I checked out opensecrets.org.

I tried a donor lookup across all states for the 2004 election, typing in "US ARMY," "US NAVY," "US AIR FORCE," etc for the occupation field. It really seems like the overwhelming majority of donations are for democrats.

I think Bushco has a good portion of non-military patriots convinced that he's the candidate who supports the troops. Interesting that the troops themselves are spending their money on trying to get a new commander in chief.

Try the search yourself and tell me what you think. Maybe I'm viewing the results through rose colored glasses.

2. The thread you mention got me thinking to do the search.
When I saw that post on the DU homepage, it inspired me to do the search on opensecrets.org.

We must be on the same wavelength.

3. Difficult to search for civilian employees vs. troops/veterans.
If you search under US Army, you get anyone and everyone employed by the Army. Many of them are civilians- you'd have to go line by line, separating the officers and soldiers from the scientists, analysts, and administrative assistants.

That said, a cursory look shows an awful lot of Kerry, Gephardt, and DNC donations by military men/women.

It's hard to vote for a President who hangs you and your fellow soldiers out to dry.

4. We need help in a letter writing
campaign to keep congress from giving the executive branch the power to postpone elections. Go to the Plame indictments thread 6 and the info is in the last few entries.
