Attention, lurking Log Cabineers: Your party thinks you're not human
The Republican Menagerie: The Saga Continues

"It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right. . . . Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife."

-- Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), advocating a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in a speech Thursday to the Heritage Foundation.

"Every society in the history of man has upheld the institution of marriage as a bond between a man and a woman. Why? Because society is based on one thing: that society is based on the future of the society. And that's what? Children. Monogamous relationships. In every society, the definition of marriage has not ever to my knowledge included homosexuality. That's not to pick on homosexuality. It's not, you know, man on child, man on dog, or whatever the case may be. It is one thing. And when you destroy that you have a dramatic impact on the quality...

--Sen. Rick Santorum (R- Pa.), April 7, 2003 in an AP interview

First it was dogs, now it's box turtles. What is it about Republicans and animals? I'd love to be able to make some snitty joke here, but I can't. All I can conclude is that Republicans actually equate GLBT Americans with animals.

My message to the Log Cabin Republicans -- Exactly what part of your brain allows your desire for tax cuts/pre-emptive war/whatever it is that drew you to the Republicans to trump the fact that the leaders of your party believe that you are inhuman because of who you are? I understand why you don't want to be a Democrat (although if you do wake up, you're welcome here). But I don't understand why you still want to be a Republican.

Can anyone explain this to me?

3. I have a friend who is Repub, gay, AND Catholic
now there's a trifecta.

He's a great guy; and the saddest part is that his parent have disassociated themselves from him, and that really hurts him.

He has decided not to vote this time around.

gay person can support this party that hates them. It makes about as much sense as Jews supporting Hitler.

Edited for spelling.

6. Oh, they're such experts on history and anthropology. Oh wait ...
no they're not. They think that their narrow view of marriage, and its base in recent cultural mores, represents all human history and all human cultures.

And even if they WERE correct about human history, that it hadn't been so before would be no indication that it shouldn't be so now.
